Before the year turns,
I’m choosing to release what no longer feels like home in my body, my mind, or my life.

Not with pressure.
Not with force.
Just with honesty, love, and a little more care for myself.

I’m letting go of habits that drain me,
thoughts that make me doubt myself,
spaces that feel heavy,
and connections that don’t meet me where I am.

This next chapter isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about returning to myself — calmer, clearer, and more aligned.

I’m carrying only what supports the woman I’m becoming.

As we move through this colder week, I want you to be intentional in how you support your body’s nervous system, circulation, and overall energy.

Do this daily:
• Warm the core: ginger–cinnamon–lemon tea
• Mobilize the spine: 10 spinal waves + 3 minutes gentle shaking
• Breath of Fire: 60 seconds for heat + clarity
• Oil the skin after bathing to calm the vagus nerve & protect the barrier
• Magnesium at night to support deep recovery & restorative sleep

Cold weather challenges the body — but it also strengthens it when supported properly.

Your body is not just reacting to winter — it’s learning from it.

Nu Sigma Sigma is proud to honor Karen Ellis, Educator and Librarian at Hemphill Elementary School in Kyle, TX.
For over three decades, Karen Ellis has devoted her life to inspiring a love of learning and literacy in Texas public schools. A proud wife, mother, and grandmother, she began her career as a middle school science teacher in Houston before discovering her true passion as a school librarian—a role she has embraced since 2008 in Tomball and now at Hemphill Elementary in Kyle, Texas.

Believing that the library is the heart of every school, Mrs. Ellis has worked tirelessly to bring reading to life for students and families. She has championed family literacy initiatives, partnering with pre-kindergarten teachers to host engaging events that empower parents with strategies to support learning at home. She also collaborates closely with teachers across grade levels to integrate literacy into every corner of the curriculum.

Since joining Hemphill Elementary in 2019, Mrs. Ellis has strengthened community partnerships to expand literacy opportunities for children. Notably, she has worked alongside Cynthia Bentley and the Unforgettable Families and Friends organization and Nu Sigma Sigma to promote a love of reading through programs such as Bikes for Books, motivating students to achieve academic success through the joy of reading.

Through her steadfast dedication, creativity, and compassion, Karen Ellis exemplifies the spirit of service, leadership, and lifelong learning—making a lasting impact on generations of students and families in her community.
