Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home

Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home We provide compassionate support and personalized, meaningful services for families in Scituate, Massachusetts Gaffey & Sons Funeral Home (est. 1969).

Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home is a combination of the Ernest A. Richardson Funeral Home (est. 1955) and the Edward J. All of our services ar

e designed to help our client families through one of the most personal and challenging stages of life. We understand losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience, and we are committed to helping our client families with compassionate, professional and personal service. Our commitment to our community has remained unchanged, yet our funeral home has always responded to the changing needs of the community. We’re proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Dignity Memorial providers offer exclusive benefits, including National Transferability of Prearranged Services, the Bereavement Travel Program, the 24-Hour Compassion Helpline® and access to an acclaimed grief management library. The Dignity Memorial brand is your assurance of quality, value, caring service and customer satisfaction. Our funeral directors Sara Collins and Mike McCormack are dedicated to our beautiful community and all of the families we serve. Mike was born and raised in Rockland, where he lives with his wife and Sara is from Rhode Island and moved to Scituate with her husband and two children in 2014.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day (kind of)! As a proud sponsor of the Scituate St. Patrick’s Day parade, we always like to extend an invitation to come park at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home so you can walk up to the commons to view the parade.

We only ask one thing: Please don’t park on the grass. You might say to yourself “no parking spaces….oh look some perfectly manicured green grass…let’s park there”. Don’t.

Our landscapers put a lot of love and hard work into making the grounds look perfect (like our funeral directors) through the year and they get very sad when they see tire marks ruining their hard work. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a landscaper cry, it’s very loud because they have the backpack leaf blower on. Have fun and be safe!

Thank you to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Scituate for inviting us to give a presentation on the importance of pre-planning you or your loved one’s funeral. We had a very informative and lighthearted Q&A session after the presentation. How often do you get to have two funeral directors in a room that you can ask any funeral related question you’ve ever had.

If you ever have any questions about pre-planning (or if you want to ask a funeral director a question you’ve always wanted to the answer to or any thing related to the bruins or three stooges) we would be happy to talk.

March 11 is Funeral Director Appreciation Day, and we would like to say thank you to every family that we have served for putting your trust in us to help during the most difficult time of your life.

To thank our staff here, we coordinated a photo shoot with inspiration from those 90’s style Sears photo shoots that many of you include in your memorial slide shows. These are 100% authentic, no AI (AI cannot capture the genuine tension and awkwardness) and all of us wearing turtle necks was a complete coincidence 😉. If you know a funeral professional, don’t forget to say thank you!
