The holidays are a time to slow down, gather close, and be present with the people who matter most. ❤️

At Dr. Coppola’s Office, caring for families has always started with caring for our own. This Christmas, Dr. Coppola and our team will be taking a little time away from the office to be home with our families—sharing meals, traditions, laughter, and the moments that make this season so meaningful.

We will return briefly between Christmas and New Year’s to care for patients, then step away again for a few days to rest, reflect, and ring in the New Year refreshed and ready to serve you in 2026.

We know peace of mind matters—especially during the holidays. If you experience a dental emergency, please call the office and follow the prompts to leave a message. We’re always here to help.

Thank you for trusting us with your smiles, year after year. From our families to yours, we wish you a season filled with warmth, comfort, and joy. ✨

When Santa himself stops by to wish Doctor Coppola a Merry Christmas and says, “May your smiles be merry and bright,” we take that as the highest compliment. Because dentistry isn’t just about teeth.

It’s about trust.

Comfort.

And caring for people year after year — season after season.

The holidays are busy. Life is full.
But a healthy smile is something that quietly supports every moment in between.

From our office to your family,
🎄 may your smiles be merry, bright, and well cared for — this Christmas and always.

🎄 Holiday advice from your dental office (that actually matters):
Don’t wait for January to care for your smile.

This time of year is full of good intentions—
“I’ll start fresh after the holidays.”
“I’ll deal with it in the new year.”
“I’ll book once things slow down.”

But here’s what we know from years of experience:
🦷 Small issues don’t pause for Christmas.
They quietly grow in the background.

That sensitivity you’ve been ignoring?
That bleeding when you brush?
Those are early signals—and early care is always easier.

The holidays are about comfort, connection, and confidence.
And feeling good about your smile is part of that.

A quick visit now can mean:
✔ Less stress later
✔ Fewer surprises in January
✔ A healthier start to the year ahead

Sometimes the most practical advice is the most loving one:
Don’t put yourself last this season.

🎄 We’re here when you’re ready.

✨ It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.✨

Every year, we hang the wreath—not just as decoration, but as a small way to give something back to the community we’re so grateful to be part of.

If you drive by and catch a glimpse of it, we hope you’ll pause for just a moment.

Not to rush.

Not to think about what’s next.

But to breathe.

To remember the quiet magic of the season—the warmth, the kindness, the shared moments that don’t show up on a to-do list.

In a world that moves fast, this is your gentle reminder:
There’s still beauty in slowing down.
There’s still comfort in familiar traditions.

And there’s still peace to be found, even on an ordinary drive home.

🎄 From our corner of the community to yours—wishing you a season filled with calm, warmth, and simple joy.

Some people don’t always work face-to-face with patients — but their impact is felt every single day. 🤍

Today, we’re celebrating one of those people.
Happy Birthday, Wendy! 🎂✨

Wendy works behind the scenes, handling important administrative tasks that help our office run smoothly and allow our clinical team to focus on caring for our patients. Her dedication, organization, and quiet reliability make a real difference here.

🎁 Thinking of gifting something truly useful this holiday season?

This time of year, many of our patients ask what they can give that actually improves someone’s health — or what they can choose for themselves to start the new year feeling better. One of the simplest (and most appreciated!) gifts is an upgrade in daily homecare: an electric toothbrush or a Waterpik. 🪥💧

Here’s why these make such meaningful gifts:
Electric toothbrush benefits:
• Helps remove more plaque than a manual brush
• Ideal for patients with gum recession or sensitive areas
• Built-in timers encourage a full two-minute brushing
• Great for teens, aging parents, or anyone who needs a little extra help reaching every surface

Waterpik benefits:
• Excellent for cleaning around bridgework and dental implants
• Reaches under the gumline where brushes and floss can’t
• Helpful for patients with braces or those who struggle with traditional flossing
• Supports gum health, especially for patients with a history of periodontal concerns

If you or someone you love could use an oral-health boost, we have these products available right here in our office.

You’re welcome to:
• Call ahead to reserve one for pickup
• Grab one at your next visit
• Or simply stop in — we’re happy to help you choose the best option

Many insurance plans and flex spending accounts also allow these purchases, making them a smart year-end investment in your whole-body health.

Healthy habits are one of the best gifts you can give… and they last far beyond the holidays. 💙

If you have questions about which product is right for your smile, just give us a call — we’re always here to guide you.

Sometimes the story of a place is written not in walls or equipment, but in the people who walk through its doors.

For us, that story began in a tiny office above the subway on Mohawk Ave in 1950. That’s where Dr. Sam Coppola first welcomed his patients — neighbors, friends, and young families just beginning their lives here in Scotia.

What started as a single room with a chair and a dream slowly became something much bigger. As the years passed, Dr. Sam cared for children who later brought their own children, and eventually their grandchildren. Generations grew up in that chair. Trust was built one visit at a time.

When Dr. David returned home after dental school and his residency at the Manhattan V.A. Hospital, he stepped into the very legacy his father had built. They worked side-by-side for eleven years — a father teaching a son not just dentistry, but compassion, humility, and the importance of doing right by every patient who walks in.

In 1972, the office moved to 34 Vley Road. In 2014 and again in 2024, the building grew to keep up with the needs of our community. Each addition wasn’t about becoming bigger — it was about becoming better, while keeping the same small-town heart that Dr. Sam established decades ago.

And today, when a patient sits in our chair and says, “Your father was my dentist,” or “He treated me when I was a child,” it feels like the story is still being written… just with new chapters, new generations, and the same commitment to excellence.

When you see the photos in this post — the original office above the subway, Dr. Sam treating patients in the 50s and 60s, Dr. David during his early training, and the evolution of our building over the decades — you’re not just seeing a timeline.

You’re seeing the heartbeat of this practice.

A family caring for families.
A hometown supporting its own.
And a legacy that continues through every smile we’re trusted to care for.

To our long-time patients — thank you for being part of our story. To our newer families — welcome to it.

WHERE SCIENCE MEETS ART — right here in the hometown practice so many of our families have trusted for generations.

At Dr. Coppola’s Office, the technology behind your care is just as important as the hands providing it. Every tool we use is chosen to give our patients the safest, most accurate, and most comfortable experience possible.
Our office blends advanced dental science with the same artistry and attention to detail that Dr. Coppola learned from his father decades ago. Today, that means investing in equipment that helps us diagnose earlier, treat more precisely, and protect the natural beauty of your smile at every visit.

A few things working behind the scenes for you:

• 3D CBCT imaging
Allows us to see your teeth, jaw, and bone in incredible detail. This means safer planning, earlier detection, and treatment options that are tailored exactly to you.

• Panoramic digital X-rays
Quick, comfortable, and crystal-clear images with the lowest possible radiation — ideal for preventative care and monitoring growth in children and teens.

• 3Shape digital scanning
No more messy impression trays. Our 3D scanner creates a precise digital model of your teeth, used for crowns, nightguards, custom mouthguards, whitening trays, and more — all with unmatched accuracy.

• In-house 3D printing with Sprint Ray
Your appliances are crafted right here in our office, allowing us to control quality, fit, comfort, and turnaround time.

This combination of technology + artistry allows us to provide the high-end cosmetic and restorative dentistry our community deserves—while still offering the warm, personal care our patients have known since Dr. Sam Coppola opened the original office above the subway on Mohawk Ave.

It’s the perfect meeting point of innovation and hometown compassion.

If you’ve been thinking about a smile upgrade, have a dental concern, or simply want to experience a more comfortable and modern dental visit, we’d love to take care of you.

🍁🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from Dr. Coppola’s Team 🦃🍁

Today, we’re reminded of what truly matters — the people we share our days with, the communities we care for, and the smiles we’ve been blessed to protect for generations.

For nearly 75 years, families in Scotia have welcomed our office into some of the most meaningful parts of their lives — first visits, milestone moments, and the quiet checkups that build trust year after year. Many of you sat in Dr. Sam Coppola’s chair as children and now bring your own grandchildren through our doors. It is a privilege we do not take lightly.

As we gather with our families today, we want to say thank you — for your trust, your kindness, your stories, and the relationships that make this small hometown practice feel like family.

From Dr. Coppola, Jane, and our entire team — Jess, Kelli, Grace, Isabella, Rachel, Tami, Christine, Becky, Danika, Ella, Amber, Wendy, and Kristina — we wish you a day filled with warmth, gratitude, and the people you love most.

Happy Thanksgiving, Scotia. We are grateful for you. 🧡

✨ Why Do Hot & Cold Drinks Sometimes Make Your Teeth Hurt?

If you’ve ever taken a sip of iced tea or coffee and felt that sudden “zing,” you’re not alone, tooth sensitivity is incredibly common, and it’s often your smile’s way of telling you something important.

Think of your tooth like a sponge.
Under the enamel, there are tiny channels called tubules.

When they’re healthy, they’re “crystallized” and sealed — like a sponge with its holes closed off.

But when we regularly enjoy acidic foods or drinks (think sparkling water, coffee, soda, citrus, sports drinks), or if the gums begin to recede, those tiny tubules can open.
And once they’re open, cold and hot temperatures travel straight to the nerve, causing that sharp, uncomfortable sensation.

The good news? Sensitivity is treatable.

Here’s what we recommend at Dr. Coppola’s Office:
🦷 Use a fluoride toothpaste specifically for sensitivity
🦷 Rinse with ACT fluoride mouthwash to strengthen and protect
🦷 If the sensitivity is in one spot and not improving, we can apply an in-office high-fluoride varnish to seal those tubules and bring relief

If you’ve been dealing with sensitivity that lingers, worsens, or is limited to one area, it’s important to have it checked — sometimes sensitivity is an early sign of enamel wear, recession, or a cracked tooth.

➡️ If you’re wondering whether your sensitivity is normal or something more, we’d be happy to take a look. Our team is here to help you stay comfortable and confident with every sip.
