Happy Heavenly Birthday to 2nd generation Pharmacist and previous owner, N.O. McDowell, Jr., also known as “Spec”. He was a quiet man of infinite wisdom, whose good works in the Pharmacy and community were usually completed behind the scenes with no thanks expected.

One of our favorite quotes from him is “Take care of people and they’ll take care of you.” This is still how we strive to operate our business today. Thank you for paving the way with hard work and humility for future generations!

Fun fact: N.O. McDowell, Jr. served on the NC Board of Pharmacy in the late 50’s!

I want to take a moment to share some exciting news with you personally. After many wonderful years serving the Gates County community, Todd’s Pharmacy is beginning a new chapter. I’m honored to announce that our pharmacy will now be known as McDowell’s Pharmacy of Gates County. We would like to thank Brad, Billy, and William for the opportunity to continue providing personalized care for this wonderful county.

As a lifelong resident of eastern North Carolina and a 4th-generation independent pharmacy owner, I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue the proud tradition of local pharmacy ownership here in Gates County. I currently own and operate two independent pharmacies, one of which is a family drug store that has been continuously serving customers since 1901. My commitment, and that of our entire team, is to ensure you continue to receive the same compassionate and patient-centered care you have always trusted.

While the name on the front of the building is changing, the people behind the counter are not. The same friendly faces you have come to know (along with a few new ones) will continue to serve you with the same dedication and care you deserve. We are excited to introduce a new Pharmacist, Lane Bass, to lead our team. Lane was born and raised here in eastern North Carolina, and he is excited to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care for Gates County and surrounding areas. Lane and I look forward to meeting you.
