Today is World Parkinson's Awareness Day, an annual observance day that recognizes those living with Parkinson's disease and advocates for support and research. The holiday falls on the birthday of James Parkinson, who first researched the disorder.

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological condition that leads to mobility issues such as tremors, stiffness, and slow movement. While there is currently no cure for Parkinson's, medications and therapies may help manage symptoms.

Meet Rickey, our Scottsboro Chaplain and Spiritual Counselor!

Rickey is a true gem on our team. His presence brings joy and laughter to everyone around him. Always kind, approachable, and supportive, Rickey goes above and beyond for both patients and staff alike. He has a wonderful sense of humor that lightens even the toughest days. Rickey provides compassionate spiritual guidance, helping people find comfort and meaning even during the most difficult moments.

He is always ready to lend an ear, offer encouragement, or simply be present when someone needs him. We are incredibly fortunate to have Rickey's compassion, faith, and uplifting spirit as part of our Aveanna Hospice family. 🩵

Erica and Shana have been inseparable since nursing school. When Erica joined the Aveanna Hospice team, she found incredible purpose as an RN Case Manager and knew she had to bring Shana along. This week, we are so excited to highlight Madison, our weekend on call nurse!

She's the face everyone sees on the weekends, and her kind personality makes such a difference for both our patients and our team. She is someone we can always count on. She shows up, handles everything with grace, and truly cares about every patient she helps.

Outside of work, Madison is the best mom, and that shows in everything she does here. We are so lucky to have her on our team and we appreciate her more than she probably even knows!

Our Medical Social Workers are the vital link between care and community resources, advocating for our patients and families with a deep understanding of their unique needs. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment make an extraordinary impact on the lives of our patients and on the world around us.

They bring a level of human connection to our care that consistently goes above and beyond. Support can take many forms — providing counseling, connecting families with resources, or assisting with care planning. But often, the most meaningful support comes from simply showing empathy and presence.
