Child development covers a variety of skills that a child masters over their life span. When looking at global development as a child grows, there are 5 domains of childhood development that certain skills may develop at certain times and different rates.
Physical Development: Includes growth and development in gross and fine motor skills.
Social emotional: How a child interacts with others, family, and coping skills.
Cognitive: How a child’s attention, memory, and thinking and learning skills in various areas develops. It is the ability to learn to problem solve.
Adaptive development: Progression in development of self care skills and responsibilities.
Language & literacy: Includes skills children use to understand and communicate with others.
