🧠 Psychology vs. Psychiatry: What’s the Difference?

Both psychologists and psychiatrists help treat mental health conditions, but they do it in different ways.
Psychology focuses on understanding the human mind and behavior. Psychologists study how biological, social, and environmental factors influence our thoughts, emotions, and interactions with others. They primarily treat patients through psychotherapy techniques, such as behavioral and cognitive therapy.

Psychiatry, on the other hand, is a medical field. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who diagnose, prevent, and treat mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. They can also prescribe medications and use medical treatments when necessary.

🔍 Key Differences

• Psychologists focus on therapy and behavioral interventions
• Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can prescribe medication
• Some patients benefit from working with both professionals

💡 If you're unsure which one to see, talk to your doctor—they can help guide you toward the right support for your needs.

Your mental health matters, and finding the right professional is an important step toward feeling better.

Family Foundations Weekend Recap 💛

This past weekend, families came together for our Family Foundations Winter Session, a meaningful time of connection, reflection, and growth.

From engaging activities like our Emotion Beach Ball Toss, to thoughtful conversations in family process groups, the weekend created space for families to strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and support one another in the healing journey.

We also explored Family Resilience and Nervous System Education, where families learned practical self-care tools and ways to support regulation, connection, and long-term wellbeing.

Moments of laughter during Family Game Show Night, shared meals, and intentional time together reminded us that healing happens best in community.

Thank you to our incredible facilitators and families for showing up with openness, courage, and compassion.

We’re grateful to walk alongside you. 💫

The 2026 Partners In Treatment Conference is shaping up to be our biggest year yet, and the momentum is building quickly.

Registrations from clinicians across the country are picking up pace, and our exhibit hall (with about 130 vendor spaces) is now over 80% full. Many of the most sought-after booths have already been claimed, and we’re seeing a real surge in interest from treatment centers, innovative programs, and referral partners who want to connect with clinicians and industry professionals.

This means two things:

✨ The energy and opportunity at this year’s event will be unmatched: More meaningful conversations, more potential collaborations, and more ways for you to expand your network and referral base in one place.

✨ Spots for both exhibitors and attendees are going faster than in previous years: If you’ve been on the fence about joining us, now is the time to secure your place before we hit capacity.

Here’s a quick reminder of why so many clinicians are making PIT their go-to conference:

💛 9 - 13.5 live CEUs from top-tier, evidence-based presenters focused on practical clinical advances

💛 Warm, intentional community spaces (Countdown Party, Opening Reception, Poolside Moonlight Mingle) where real relationships form

💛 Hands-on experiential workshops that many describe as eye-opening

💛 The “Branding the Best You” session with clinician-focused strategies to grow your practice authentically

💛 A welcoming exhibit hall built for collaboration, not sales pressure. Bring business cards and practice materials; exhibitors are actively seeking referral partners

💛 The peaceful Partner Lounge for needed breaks and casual colleague connections

We can’t wait to welcome you to We-Ko-Pa Resort in Fountain Hills/Scottsdale this April 22–24. Come earn CEUs, make genuine connections, and be part of what’s becoming the premier relational gathering for mental health treatment professionals.

This Valentine’s Day, we celebrated connection in the best way we know how — together, outdoors, and surrounded by community.

Our Valentine’s Day hike was more than just a walk on the trail. It was a reminder that love comes in many forms — friendship, support, shared laughter, and simply showing up for one another.

From crisp fresh air to meaningful conversations along the path, the day was filled with moments of connection, encouragement, and belonging. Whether you came with a friend or made a new one along the way, you were part of something special.

There’s something powerful about moving side-by-side — it creates space for authentic conversation, reflection, and community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this day so meaningful. 💕

Here’s to building connection, strengthening community, and continuing to take steps forward — together.
