Day 23: Training

Imagine if you were training a new employee to take over your job. Would you expect them to know everything the first day? What about by the end of the first week? We would, of course, expect someone new to a job to have questions as they learn and allow them lots of grace as they adjust to new routines.

You’re in training on this journey to a healthy lifestyle you desire. You’re doing GREAT and learning a ton about yourself & your strength. You’re not expected to know everything or get it right 100% of the time, but only to keep trying.

This journey will never be done. You’ll always be in training, learning more about yourself and what works for you when it comes to overall wellness. Let’s celebrate our training wins today, and ask any questions you have!

What have you learned about yourself so far? What are you most proud of? What do you need help with as you continue on?

Day 22: Start with Small Swaps

It’s easy to throw in the towel when we get overwhelmed, especially when it comes to nutrition. We’re creatures of habit, and it’s easiest to fall back on what’s familiar, even if it’s not in line with our goals.

If you’re feeling discouraged by all the change you want to happen, take a deep breath. The good news is you don’t have to change all your food overnight. A great place to begin is to start with the biggest offenders and make a plan to swap them for something clean and healthy. Instead of Pop-Tarts for breakfast, try Egg Muffins. Grab a cooked rotisserie chicken instead of a frozen dinner. Try plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, or sub half your pasta with spaghetti squash. Once these first swaps become second nature, then keep going and add another!

You don’t have to overhaul everything overnight. Each swap is a step towards your goals, and these add up in big ways.

What will you swap this week?

Day 21: Rhythm of Rest
of

Without rest, your body will eventually say enough’s enough and shut down. You have to give your body time to recuperate and get ready to move towards your goals again.

In addition to prioritizing a good night’s sleep and giving your muscles time to heal before the next workout, it’s important to allow for small self-care rests during your day. It could be as small as savoring a cup of coffee in the morning, taking a 5-minute break outside in the sunshine, or reading a few pages of a good book.

When a patient elects hospice care, the hospice is responsible for providing all services related to the patient’s
terminal illness and related conditions, including ensuring the patient’s rights are respected. When a hospice
does not comply with Medicare requirements related to patient rights, there can be significant consequences.
In these instances, abuse or neglect may occur, causing harm to the patient. Read More here. http://ow.ly/RvIh50GazWp

Day 19: Practice Play

Children don’t have a monopoly on play! It’s often shared how important play is for kids, but did you know it’s also been proven to be an important practice for adults?

Play is important for a positive mindset. It can help you find more joy in everyday tasks, and not take minor setbacks so seriously.

From cooking to team sports, laughing with friends to goofing off with your kids, play is anything you find enjoyable just to do, not for the outcome. If you’re having trouble finding ways to play, think back to what you loved to do as a kid. How can you do something like that now?

How can you practice play today?

Day 18: Overdoing It

In today’s supersized society, it’s easy to go overboard with our food intake. To make sure our bodies are getting what they need, and we’re not overdoing it with certain food groups, it’s great to be mindful of a few portion control tips:

Restaurant portions are typically more appropriate for two meals instead of one. Split with a friend, or pack half to-go as soon as it arrives.
Pre-portion snacks and treats so you don’t overindulge eating right out of the package
Grab fruits or veggies between meals when hunger strikes
Drink a glass of water before each meal to make sure you don’t mistake thirst for hunger
For a visual at each meal, shoot for 50% of your plate to be veggies, 25% to be protein, and 25% to be grain.

What are your best portion control tips? How do you keep from overdoing it?
