Arizona Eye Specialists At Arizona Eye Specialists, we strive to provide OUTSTANDING healthcare with compassion in our seven

Arizona Eye Specialists (Formally Associated Ophthalmologists) was founded in 1953 by Dr. John Aiello and Dr. Donald Longfellow. The first practice locations were in “Old Town” Scottsdale and in downtown Phoenix. In the late 1900’s and early 2000’s the practice grew with the addition of three valley locations; Glendale, Goodyear and Gilbert along with a centralized business office located in Scottsdale. Recently, a North Scottsdale location was added which brings the total of office locations throughout the valley to six as an added convenience to better serve the patient. Today the practice has 14 providers that cover general Ophthalmology including sub-specialties such as Cornea, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Diabetes and Contact Lenses.

From colorful eggs to sunny Arizona afternoons, Easter is full of moments worth seeing clearly.

It is also a reminder of how much we rely on our vision for the little things. Finding hidden eggs, spotting smiles, soaking in spring colors.

Clear vision helps you stay present for the moments that matter most. Happy Easter from all of us here at Arizona Eye Specialists!

April is Sports Eye Safety Month, and your eyes deserve just as much protection as the rest of your body.

From pickleball courts to hiking trails, Arizona is made for movement. But all it takes is one unexpected impact to cause serious eye injury.

Protective eyewear is not just for pros. It is for anyone who wants to stay in the game safely.

If you are active outdoors or in sports, it might be time to upgrade your eye protection. Call (480) 994-5012 and let’s make sure your vision stays strong no matter how you play.

April Fools’ Day is full of tricks, but when it comes to your vision, myths can do more harm than good.

Here is one we hear a lot: “If I can see fine, I do not need an eye exam.”
Not quite.

Many eye conditions develop without obvious symptoms, especially in the early stages. By the time you notice changes, your vision may already be affected.

No jokes here. Staying ahead of your eye health is one of the smartest moves you can make.

If it has been a while, call (480) 994-5012 and schedule a comprehensive eye exam. Your future vision will thank you.

Your central vision helps you read, drive, recognize faces, and navigate daily life — and it’s exactly what AMD affects.
The good news? With regular exams, lifestyle adjustments, and early detection, you can stay ahead of changes long before they affect your independence.

If you’re 55+, have a family history of AMD, or notice subtle changes in clarity, a retinal exam can help you understand what’s happening.

Let’s check in with your screen habits — no judgment here!
How often do you follow the 20-20-20 rule?

A) Every 20 minutes like clockwork
B) When I remember
C) Rarely
D) …Wait, what’s the 20-20-20 rule?

Most floaters are harmless, but changes that appear suddenly shouldn’t be brushed off.

When you’re focused on work, you blink way less often — and that can make dry eye symptoms worse.
If your eyes feel sandy, watery, or tired by mid-day, it may be the perfect time to revisit how your work setup affects your comfort.

Hydration, good lighting, proper monitor distance, and regular breaks all help — but a dry eye evaluation can pinpoint what your eyes truly need.

Difficulty with night driving, halos around lights, and increased glare are some of the earliest signs of cataracts.
They often develop slowly, making the changes easy to ignore until they start interfering with daily life.

If you’ve noticed these shifts in your vision, a cataract evaluation can help you understand what’s changing and what to do next.

From cataracts to retinal damage, UV rays can impact your vision far more than you might expect.

Quality sunglasses with 100% UV protection are a must this time of year (not just darker lenses!). Our optical shops carry options that protect and look great.

Kids rarely say “I can’t see well.” Instead, they show it — losing focus, avoiding reading, or falling behind.
As screen time continues to rise in classrooms, vision problems can become even harder to catch.

We offer pediatric eye exams for ages 7+ to help kids stay comfortable, confident, and focused at school.

To schedule, call (480) 994-5012.

Staring at screens all day can lead to digital eye strain — headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, and trouble focusing.
It’s one of the most common complaints we hear from Arizona professionals, students, and remote workers.

A quick eye exam can help determine whether it’s dryness, outdated prescriptions, or screen habits causing the issue.

If your eyes feel fatigued by noon, call (480) 994-5012 to schedule a digital eye health check.
