It’s so obvious that the powers that be want to dismantle every great thing about American masculinity and war fighting prowess. This is an example of an intellectual writing an opinion, but due to his “academic achievement” is taken as factual. Spartans appear in a bad light to the weak and effeminate. Weakness was not tolerated in any form. The principles of their nation were paramount. And, there is no way for him to gloss over this: Spartans we’re revered by their fellow Greeks for their prowess in the games and more so on the battlefield. Some of Western civilization’s greatest thinkers were fanboys of the Spartan esprit de corps. Academia is compromised, entirely. It’s an indoc camp.
On top of all this, how can the architects of the greatest stand in military history, Thermopylae, be losers or overrated. The use of terrain and bravery/prowess in the face of unbelievable odds(700 total Greeks vs 250,000 Persians) stomps his argument out.
And I’ll leave you with this: Sparta was the only great city of antiquity without walls. Why? They said their men were their wall. Sparta was never sacked in their 500 yr heyday. These dudes should absolutely be revered. Their masculinity should be emulated and we damn sure should look to their example when faced with overwhelming odds, or when we are in need of courage. Molon effing Labe is what I say to this p Nick necked Professor. Hey nerd, learn how to fight and get strong, you won’t hate the warrior ethos so much. I’m sick of histoey being rewritten by the weak and lazy.

The U.S. military’s admiration of a proto-fascist city-state is based on bad history.
