🦟 Hong Kong has confirmed 3 locally acquired chikungunya cases since late Oct 2025—the first ever reported in the area.

Affected Areas include:
• Wong Tai Sin (Fung Tak Estate) - 2 cases
• Kwai Tsing (Tsing Yi/Mount Haven) - 1 case
• Linked to Sheung Wan area

🌟What You Need to Know:
Chikungunya causes sudden fever and severe joint pain. Actual infections likely exceed reported cases.

Mosquito Protection Essential:
✅Use DEET or picaridin repellent
✅Wear long sleeves/pants
✅Stay in screened accommodations
✅Remember mosquitoes bite all day (peak: early morning, late afternoon, evening)

Travelers with stays ≥ 6 months: Consider chikungunya vaccination.

Hong Kong recorded 52 imported cases in 2025. Neighboring Guangdong Province reported 12,400+ cases July-October 2025.

Travelers visiting Wong Tai Sin, Kwai Tsing (particularly Tsing Yi), or Sheung Wan districts should be especially diligent with mosquito protection throughout the day.

We have been trying for decades to eradicate this vaccine-preventable disease from the planet for decades.

Despite global vaccination efforts, polio still remains a risk in certain regions with low vaccination rates.

International travelers may be asked for PROOF of vaccination if entering or leaving countries with outbreaks.

📊 Current risk areas: Afghanistan, Pakistan, and areas of Africa.

💉 Prevention: Most adults vaccinated in childhood only need a single lifetime booster before travel to risk areas.

Hepatitis A Awareness - One of the most common vaccine-preventable illnesses for travelers. It spreads through food and water contaminated with the virus.

📊 Where it happens:
• High risk in Mexico, Central America, Asia, and Africa.
• Even some 5-star resorts aren’t immune—ice cubes, salads, or shellfish can transmit the virus.

🛡️ Symptoms: Fatigue, nausea, stomach pain, dark urine, and jaundice. It can ruin months with recovery time.

💉 Prevention: One shot today provides 90% immunity. A second dose (6 months later) locks in lifetime immunity.
