5 years… WOW 🤍

On Day 6 of World Doula Week, I’m taking a moment to celebrate something incredibly special…5 years of supporting families through one of the most powerful experiences of their lives.

What started as a passion has grown into a purpose🤍 Over the years, Granted Wishes Birth Services has expanded, and I’m so proud to now have other incredible doulas walking alongside me, supporting families with the same love, dedication, and heart.

Over the past 5 years, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside so many amazing parents, holding hands, offering reassurance, advocating, educating, and witnessing the strength that already lives within each of you.

I’ve seen first breaths, first cries, and the exact moment someone becomes a parent. And I’ve also seen the quiet, in-between moments…the vulnerability, the questions, the growth.

This work is more than a job. It’s a calling. And I don’t take it lightly.

To every family who has trusted us, thank you. You’ve shaped me, and all of us, into the doulas we are today 🤍

Informed choices during birth aren’t about having all the answers… they’re about knowing you have options 🤍

As a birth doula, my role isn’t to make decisions for you, it’s to help you understand what’s being offered, why it’s being offered, and how it aligns with your values and vision for your birth.

Because here’s the truth:
Every choice in birth should be yours.

✨ You deserve to ask questions
✨ You deserve time to think (when possible)
✨ You deserve to say yes, no, or “not right now”
✨ You deserve to feel confident in the decisions you make

A helpful tool I often share with my clients is the B.R.A.I.N. acronym:
🧠 Benefits – What are the benefits of this option?
⚠️ Risks – What are the risks?
🔄 Alternatives – Are there other options?
💭 Intuition – What feels right to you?
⏳ Nothing – What happens if we wait or do nothing?

Birth can feel fast-paced and overwhelming, but informed consent is not a luxury, it’s your right.

When you feel informed, supported, and heard… your birth experience becomes something you own, not something that just happens to you.

Birth doulas don’t replace partners, we support them.

One of the most beautiful parts of my work is helping partners feel confident, involved, and empowered in their role during birth. I’m there to guide, reassure, and offer tools so they can stay present, connected, and supportive every step of the way.

Pregnancy tired is a whole different kind of tired.
Not “I stayed up too late” tired.

It’s the kind of tired where your body is literally growing a human and asking you to slow down… even when your life doesn’t. 🤍
