Big thanks to Scranton Area Community Foundation for awarding The Greenhouse Project a $2,462 Critical Needs Grant! 🌱
This funding allowed us to replace our failed greenhouse watering system with a reliable new system that keeps our plants healthy and our programs growing.
Because of this support, we can continue providing hands-on education in organic gardening, food growing, sustainability, and community engagement for local students, volunteers, and families.
We’re grateful for this investment in our mission and our community. 💚

Connecting Food to Health

The Greenhouse Project’s focus is to educate both children and adults about the relationship between the foods we eat and our personal and public health. The Greenhouse Project promotes a food ecosystem that is healthy for people, the environment and animals, and promotes disease prevention through diet, movement and active living. As a public charity, our programs benefit education, wellness, nutrition, and local hunger projects. Additionally, we operate a 3000 sq. ft. greenhouse in Scranton’s Nay Aug Park and three thriving community gardens. The greenhouse allows us to teach hands-on gardening & horticulture classes while we grow and sell plants and to help support our mission. The James Barrett McNulty Greenhouse is also used weekly with our yoga, tai chi, creative gardening and other classes as well as school educational tours. Hours are seasonal and depending upon volunteers and staffing. Check our events on our website: ScrantonGreenhouse.org or Facebook.
