Interesting read from Psychology today. Gender stereotypes are so harmful to women but we often forget about the damage done to young boys because of the societal acceptance or ignorance of the existence of female predators. This is an important read for therapists dealing with male patients with a history of childhood sexual abuse and also important for society as a whole to recognize this as a real issue.

Candice has over 13 years of experience in the mental health field and holds a masters degree in community counseling. She enjoys working with clients of all ages and counsels individuals from 5 to 75 years old. She has focused on topics such as anxiety, depression, grief, self esteem, divorce, relationship conflicts and communication issues. This article is so encouraging. Neuroscience proves that we can change our thinking patterns! Often people come in to my office and feel so helpless and out of control of their negative thinking. I always preach about changing habits. It has been said that if we do something 20 times, it becomes a habit and will then become a natural occurrence. This article backs this idea with scientific theory! We are actually changing brain pathways when we develop new "habits." Let's work on making them positive ones!

With the current political climate, we need coping skills. Different people are stressed out about different things in relation to politics. Many people feel fearful about the future of healthcare or education. Others feel attacked and anxious with regard to their religion, ethnic background, or gender.
