MyCIL Center For Independent Living

MyCIL Center For Independent Living MyCIL — Your Center for Independent Living. This empowerment gives more control over their lives.

Empowering people with disabilities to live independently and thrive in their communities. 💙
Home of the Transitional Skills Center & ACES$ Financial Management Services serving Self-Directed programs. Persons with disabilities want to decide how to live their lives, determine what supports they need, and how to consume their resources within their own means, just the same as anyone in the general population does. Independent Living gives adults with disabilities and families of children with disabilities more control over their budgets and how their resources are consumed. These individuals will experience more freedom and choice, resulting in a better quality of life. The ability to select their own Caregivers with the expectation of satisfactory performance on their part.

MyCIL is saddened by the passing of former Scranton Mayor David Wenzel, a Vietnam War hero and advocate for disability rights. In 1971, he stepped on a land mine and lost both legs above the knee, his left arm above the wrist, and eventually most sight in his left eye. He devoted his life to our community.

🎃TSC's brightest spirits came together at the 2025 Skele-bration! 🎃

The estimation station called upon functional math, bingo put the fun in focus, and beadwork built on fine motor skills and self-expression. Howling Boo-nanas and spooky fresh apples were the perfect taste of fall- but what did the students love most of all? Dancing together to their favorite beats and the joy of peer to peer meet and greets. 🕺🏻🎶

🌸 TSC is Spreading Petals Once Again! 🌸

Our talented TSC students were at it again — creating stunning floral arrangements with flowers generously donated from Maureen Grady and Tommy Burke’s wedding this past weekend. 💐

Maureen is the sister of our very own Jack Grady, Program Director for our Veterans Directed Care Program and Washington & SeniorLife’s Self-Directed Programs.

These beautiful blooms found new life at The Northeast Radiation and Oncology Center and Marywood Heights Nursing Home, bringing color and joy to patients and staff alike. 🌷

Our students worked tirelessly all day yesterday on two wedding deliveries, creating over 300 arrangements! Their dedication and creativity continue to brighten lives — one bouquet at a time.

Thank you to Maureen, Tommy, Jack, and everyone who helped make this possible! 💖
