Child Safety Center

Child Safety Center Help. Hope. Heal. Because it shouldn't hurt to be a kid. The center has three goals:

1. The child is interviewed by a specially trained forensic interviewer.

Provide a child-friendly, safe, and secure environment for children who may have been sexually or otherwise seriously abused. They are assisted with the interview by State Police, local law enforcement, the Sheriff Office, DHS medical and mental health professionals.

2. Provide whatever needed services or referrals to assist the child and non offending family members in the recovery process

3. Partner with community agencies to promote education, awareness and prevention programs through school-based programs, community events and fundraisers

One drawer full. Another drawer opened.

This is not just a filing cabinet—it’s a cabinet of medical files, each one representing a child who has come through our doors for a forensic medical exam following sexual abuse or assault.

Today, we closed one drawer—completely full. And we opened a new one. A fresh drawer that, over time, will begin to fill with more charts, more names, more stories of children impacted by abuse.

Moments like these are sobering. They are a stark reminder of the ongoing and relentless battle we fight every day to protect and support children. Turning to a new drawer feels like turning a new chapter in that battle—a chapter we wish we never had to write.

Thank you for bearing witness. Thank you for standing with us.

🥐 Grateful for kindness that fuels our team. 💙

We are incredibly thankful to Brandon and Kari Fox and Burrito Day for their generous holiday gift to our CSC staff. Providing homemade cinnamon rolls was such a thoughtful way to lift spirits and support our team during a busy and emotionally demanding season.

This kindness helped fuel our skeleton crew during Christmas week and served as a powerful reminder of the supportive community that surrounds us.

We are so grateful for the many ways our community continues to encourage and care for those who serve children and families every day.

It's important to have a talk with your child about who their safe adults are, even at a very young age.

Children should choose a safe adult that:

1. is older than them and can get them help if they are hurt or unsafe

2. doesn't break safety rules or try to get the child to break safety rules

3. are people that they can easily talk to about things that may be difficult to talk about

4. is someone they trust to keep them safe

5. is a good listener

We want to wish a very happy birthday and 10 year anniversary of being on staff to Caitlin Forcier! In the CAC (Child Advocacy Center) world, it is rare for people to remain in this work long term as this is demanding, emotionally heavy work, and longevity is something worth recognizing—and celebrating!

When several staff members, board members, and partner agencies were asked to share one word that comes to mind when they think of Caitlin, here are just some of the responses:

Trustworthy—someone to confide in; Resilient; Generous; Smart; Thoughtful; A fighter; Compassionate (more than once); Eloquent; Passionate; Fierce—instinctively knows how to appropriately protect her clients; Loyal—her clients and peers are always her priority; Kind; Funny; Genuine; Purposeful—she walks through the world with intention; Relentless; Intentional; Truehearted; Amazing; Dedicated; Refuge; Guardian.

As you can see, Caitlin’s influence has been deeply felt within our CAC and across several partner agencies we work with regularly. She holds many roles—Advocate, Mental Health Therapist, Program Director, Mentor, just to name a few. Her impact has reached the state level as well, where she has helped develop training programs for Child and Family Advocates. She has raised the bar for what advocacy looks like within a CAC in Arkansas—all within just 10 years.

Her knowledge and expertise have also led her to serve as an Expert Witness in court. She has grown into a steady, grounding force among us, and we are a stronger team because of her. She also happens to be an incredible mom, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Caitlin, congratulations on reaching your 10-year anniversary at the CSC! Countless children and families have been helped by your advocacy, professionalism, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Lives have truly been changed because you walked alongside families during some of their most difficult moments. You embody the word Refuge—for families and for our staff.

Thank you for all you have done, and continue to do, to make us better.

Please join us in wishing Caitlin a Happy Birthday, and congratulating her on reaching 10 years of employment!

🛍️ Grateful for a night of purpose, community, and impact. 💙

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible Pop-Up for Prevention vendors-Amy Williams Interiors, Beyond Color, Buttonwood Boutique, Camferdam Art, and Ivory & Oak-and to every community member who came out to support our very first Pop-Up for Prevention event in November.

Because of you, this meaningful shopping experience raised critical funds for the work of the CSC while also creating greater awareness of the healing and restoration that happens within our walls every day.

We are so grateful for your generosity, creativity, and willingness to stand with children and families in our community. 💛

On behalf of CACs across Arkansas, we are incredibly grateful for the support we received in 2025 from our amazing community partners and for the Arkansas Community Assistance Grant award! This support has helped us move into the new year feeling valued and recognized for the essential role CACs play.

As we look ahead, continued investment is critical to sustaining our network long-term and ensuring every child and family has access to a CAC when it matters most, without exception. 💙

Our facility dogs play an important role in helping children feel calm, supported, and safe throughout the interview process.

Many kids and teens come in feeling anxious or nervous, and simply having one of our dogs present can make a meaningful difference.

Some children pet the dogs the entire interview, some play with their fur, some try to engage them, and others simply sit beside them—and all of those responses are okay. Often, the dog’s presence alone is enough to help ease nerves and create a sense of comfort.

Here at the Child Safety Center, we are incredibly grateful for the impact our facility dogs make—not only in interviews, but also during medical exams and therapy sessions. Their steady, comforting presence helps support children in moments when they need it most.

Yesterday was a day of firsts for White County and the Child Safety Center. Thanks to the incredible work of Detective Misty Goss, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Norene Smith, and Deputy Prosecutor Abram Skarda, a man was found guilty of Trafficking of Persons, a Class Y felony due to the victim being a minor at the time of the offense. January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, giving this moment extra significance.

Protecting children in our community takes a village. It requires team members from many disciplines coming together to ensure the best possible outcome for a child, their family, and our community. Those involved in this case included Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children (CACD), the Bald K**b Police Department, the White County Sheriff’s Office, multiple prosecutors, a victim witness coordinator, a forensic interviewer and an advocate from the Child Safety Center.

Yesterday’s case was the first trafficking case to go before a jury in White County. It was also the first jury trial held in the new White County Justice Center. These firsts matter not only to the child and family involved, but to our entire community. They set a precedent for what White County believes in.

As we recognize Human Trafficking Awareness Month, this case stands as a powerful reminder of our team's shared commitment. We believe children who come forward and share the most difficult and frightening experiences of their lives. We care deeply about ensuring the safety of children in our community. We stand beside the professionals on the front lines of child abuse cases. We are a community that believes in justice.

We are so thankful for the incredible generosity shown to our families this holiday season! Because of so many caring individuals, churches, and community partners, children and caregivers felt supported, celebrated, and loved.

A huge thank you to Sonic and their amazing team of managers for generously donating gift cards, Ace Ellis for providing fast food gift cards, United Way for hosting a special Christmas shopping experience, New Life Church Searcy for donating toys to children in need for Christmas and beyond, and Center Hill Missionary Baptist Church for purchasing Christmas for one of our families and so many others who have donated resources to help make this season brighter.

Your kindness truly makes a difference!

Late into a Friday night, the lights at the Safety Center were on because five kids needed us, and we showed up. 💛

That Friday night meant:

Five forensic interviews

Three different families supported through advocacy

Two medical exams

One crisis assessment

This involved three different law enforcement agencies, a DHS investigator, a CACD investigator, 3 interviewers, 2 facility dogs, an advocate, a therapist and a nurse working together for the safety of children.

We’re incredibly thankful to be part of a team that answers the call no matter the time or day—so every child feels seen, heard, and surrounded by the support they need to begin healing.

The work doesn’t stop at 5 o’clock. And neither do we. 💙

Grateful doesn’t begin to cover it. 💙

The Child Safety Center has been awarded $605,000 ($302,500 per year for the next two years) through the Arkansas Community Assistance Grant. This support comes at a vital time, as more children than ever relied on our services this past year.

One family shared with us, “I don't know what I would have done to help my child if you were not here. It truly has been a life saver."

This funding directly supports frontline services—ensuring children and families have access to advocacy, forensic interviews, and trauma-informed care when they need it most. It helps us continue showing up in those moments when fear feels overwhelming and hope feels out of reach, and allows us to walk alongside families with reassurance that they are not alone.

We are deeply thankful to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Governor Sanders, our state legislators, and every supporter who advocated on our behalf. Thank you for investing in the safety and well-being of children in our communities.

A child told us, "I finally feel like I have someone in my corner. I would have given up without the Center. ”

That is why this work matters and why sustainable funding remains essential.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue building a future where every child is safe, heard, and supported. 🤍
