Gathering together with friends to bake pies and spend the morning socializing.

It is National bake a pie day. Wanda, Karen, Eileen, Steve and Ann began their morning mixing together Apple, cherry and banana cream pies to share with everyone.

What if you want to make a pie but don’t really have a lot of time to make a crust and don’t just want a plain crust? Well grab a can of cinnamon roll dough, roll it out into a pan. Place your apple pie mixture, or cherry pie mixture (can be any kind of fruit) and bake.
Yum- a quick easy treat for all to enjoy.

Then add a little (or a lot) of whipped cream based on your taste.

Santa popped in from his travels to see us and helped hand out gifts to all the residents before he flew back to the North Pole.

Each week residents pick the learning topic about History around the world with this weeks theme of wonders of Kenya.

There is the Tsavo Preserve that has Rhino and elephant conservation. The Maasai Mara has the largest migration of wildabeast and zebra. The Nairobi National Park is closest to the capital.

Betty spent time visiting Kenya and the different preserves while on leave while she was serving in Saudi Arabia. Her favorite was seeing the giraffe and zebras. The sights were breathtaking as she traveled. She decided to go on a safari with a guide and a few others. It is amazing to learn about places that have been visited around the world.

Each month our residents choose a local restaurant to enjoy dinner together out and about. November’s choice of restaurant was El Trio Loco in Gearhart.
Al, Jose and Celistino Bautista knew that offering good food and providing quality service would be key in re-establishing their presence here and building a loyal customer base. The brothers enjoy meeting the variety of meals that the community wants in Mexican cuisine.
Neawanna residents enjoyed their favorite dish, gathering together as friends. We had the pleasure of DeAnna and family joining us. Be sure to join us for our monthly Diner's Delight.

It is National Diabetes Month and World Diabetes Day.
Neawanna by the Sea would like to thank Beth Swenk, clinical dietitian and diabetes specialist, for coming in and talking about healthier eating and diabetes awareness with our residents.
There are so many good grains that are high in fiber that are good for you. They take time to absorb and break down in your system.
A high fiber diet keeps blood sugar from rising quickly and also improves digestion when half of your meal is vegetables .
