In December 2025, The Training Source launched its first Federal Laid-Off & Dislocated Workers Training Program in response to the 2025 federal workforce reduction orders that impacted thousands of residents across Prince George’s County and the Greater Washington Area.

Over 7 weeks of in-person and virtual training, participants strengthened their career transition skills, completed up to six professional development courses (including Microsoft Office and Project Management), and earned the Guest Service Professional Certification with a 92% average exam score. Eleven of the thirteen participants successfully completed the pilot, with one participant earning a perfect 100% across all six courses and two other participants scored 100% on the certification exam.

Special thanks to Executive Director Nekeisia Booyer for her strategic leadership and vision in supporting affected federal workers, to Lynnette Pair Young, Deputy Director, for designing and facilitating this impactful pilot, and to our Board of Directors for their continued feedback and support.

We look forward to expanding future cohorts in 2026.

🚀 OPST Cohort 1 of 2026: Learning in Motion

The Training Source recently launched our first Office & Professional Services Training (OPST) cohort of 2026 with 10 motivated participants. This week, as the cohort entered Week 3 of our 8-week training, we pivoted to a virtual week of learning—ensuring continuity, safety, and progress despite changing circumstances.

Our participants remained fully engaged as they continued building essential workplace skills. The transition to virtual instruction reflects our commitment to flexibility, quality instruction, and meeting learners where they are.

We’re proud of this cohort’s resilience and focus as they continue moving forward on their career pathways. Stay tuned as we follow their journey through the remaining weeks of training!

✨ Kicking off 2026 with Purpose & Flexibility ✨

We hope everyone is staying warm and safe during the inclement weather impacting our region—and much of the country. As conditions shift, so do we, always with our participants’ safety and well-being at the center.

Last Saturday, The Training Source’s Youth Leadership Program (YLP) kicked off its first session of 2026 by pivoting to a virtual format due to weather concerns. In close coordination with the YLP Coordinator and Executive Director, our Youth Leaders facilitation team ensured the session remained engaging, impactful, and meaningful.

The session explored key relationship dynamics—including family, peer, spiritual, and dating relationships—with 21 of our highly engaged leaders. Through polls, interactive activities, and guided discussion, our young leaders showed up ready to learn, reflect, and grow.

💛 Support the Youth Leadership Program
Your generosity helps make moments like this possible:

$50 can help support session lunches, which typically cost $200–$250 per session

$100 helps provide program materials and supplies for youth engagement

$250 supports the coordination of a full YLP session experience for our participants

Every gift—no matter the size—directly supports youth leadership development and ensures we can continue to adapt, connect, and lead with care.

Wrapping Up the First Half of the School Year with YLP!

Our December Youth Leadership Program session closed out the first half of the school year with a powerful discussion on Choices & Consequences / Illegal Activity — highlighting how decisions made today can have a lasting impact on one’s future.

A special thank you to Deputy Robert Harris III of the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Department, along with his colleagues, for serving as our guest speakers. They shared critical insights, practical tips, and real-world guidance that encouraged our YLP members to be productive members of society and leaders in their communities, promoting safety, responsibility, and care.

We’re proud of our youth for their engagement and commitment to growth!

🎉 Congratulations to Our Customer Service Certification Graduates! 🎉

We’re proud to celebrate The Training Source’s 3rd and final CSC Cohort of 2025! These outstanding Certified Guest Service Professionals achieved the highest exam scores of the year, earning an impressive 94% average. 👏

We’re especially proud to highlight our own Damari Delaine, Outreach & Engagement Specialist, who successfully completed the program alongside the cohort. Even more exciting — two graduates secured job interviews during their second week of training!

Best wishes to our graduates as they transition into Phase Two: Job Search & Goal Planning. 🚀
