King County Council Marks the Anniversary of E.O. 9066 on the Day of Remembrance.
Hello Community Members,
In 2017, the King County Council issued a Day of Remembrance proclamation for the 75th anniversary of the signing of Exec Order 9066. Many of you attended at that time. It feels more important than ever to reflect upon the grave injustices and violations of civil liberties that were so easily imposed on members of our Japanese Americans community during World War II to denounce a repeat of these actions.
On February 18th, Councilmembers Dembowski and Zahilay will issue a Day of Remembrance proclamation at the regularly scheduled County Council meeting. We invite you to join us. Densho and JACL Seattle will receive the proclamation. More information is on the graphic below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and feel free to share the flyer with others. Thank you.
