“One of the most common things people ask me is what the pros and cons of choosing M**A vs. Psilocybin are or how the effects of each substance differ.”

Dr. Ben Malcolm, PharmD, MPH compares the mechanism of action, subjective experience, therapeutic area of interest, duration of action, safety profile, and drug interaction potential with antidepressants of M**A and psilocybin

“To experience the lack of anxiety I have had this week is beyond words. It’s amazing. I have no idea how long this particular benefit will last, but so long as it’s here, it’s really, really amazing and good.”

A new wave of thinkers is reimagining how we prepare for our final passage.

In the weeks since, Mr. Anderson said he has felt an improvement in his ability to gather his thoughts and convey them. He described a three-hour conversation with his wife that he felt he wouldn’t have been able to manage while in the traumatic grip of repeated concussions.

Mr. Cushing said he has found himself waking up earlier, eager to take on tasks that he previously would have dreaded.
“It’s like a reset,” he said. “If I had to explain it to people that have never gone through it, it’s a reset of your mind, your intentions, your motivations.”

Some athletes battered by concussions are desperately searching beyond conventional medicine. Researchers see potential in the brain-stimulating power of psilocybin mushrooms.

With a surge in both GLP1 medications-such as Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro and Zepbound- and the use of psychedelic medicine in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, there are some things to keep in mind.

Glp1 medications, amongst other effects, slow gastric emptying, lower our glucose levels, drive down both thirst and hunger, can raise heart rate and blunt our dopamine response.

This can lead to both less psychoactive effects in your journey-as the medicine takes longer to move through your system-and increased side effects.

Please be cautious when mixing glp1 medications and psychedelics.

Practice reasonable harm reduction to keep yourself and your loved ones safe.

“It’s hard to describe, but there is a feeling of connection to everything, especially nature, and about being part of something bigger than an individual,” she said.

Psilocybin, she added, is not a miraculous cure-all.

When friends insist they sense a newfound calm, Ms. Tsagong smiles and shakes her head. “I haven’t exactly found peace living with cancer, but since I experienced psilocybin therapy, I’ve been able to find some peace each day,” she said. “Some days I find it more than others.”

Psilocybin-assisted therapy is legal in three states, but access has so far been limited and expensive.

“Davis emphasized that strong therapist support was a key factor in the therapy’s lasting benefits. Some participants told researchers that they had tried psychedelics on their own since taking part in the original 2021 study, but without clinical support, their experiences were not as helpful.”

“Every step of my journey with psychedelic medicine, whether clear or confusing, has been crucial for growth, revealing truths only as I became ready.
Healing chronic childhood trauma through psychedelic-assisted therapy resembles piecing together a puzzle, each piece fitting in as previous ones laid the groundwork. With time, integration, and trust in myself and my therapist, my brain shifts its perspective on trauma, replacing darkness with light.
For those with chronic trauma, like me, the healing path may be long, but it is justified by the relief and understanding it brings. Despite the challenges, there is a light at the tunnel’s end I never expected to see. I’ve started to process the impact of past abuse and realize my worth isn’t tied to it. Through this, I’ve found safety within myself that traditional therapy couldn’t provide. I am eternally grateful for this transformative work.“
