It is true – much of the population experiences perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause and knows little or nothing about it!
For many individuals, this stage of life produces minimal noticeable effects but for some, it can influence their mental health.
At City University of Seattle, our counseling students are skilled in discussing issues that come up during all stages of life, including those that are more difficult to talk about.
Please reach out if you are needing any support!

How much do you know about menopause and mental health?

Two million people go through menopause in the United States every year. So, why aren’t there more open conversations happening about what it can do to our mental health?

We're here to change that. On our blog, Kristen Abell, MHA’s director of website and digital project, talks about her experience going through perimenopause as someone with lived experience.

Swipe through to learn more about the stages of menopause and the affect it can have on mental health, and read Kristen’s story at the link below.

Summer is just around the corner and the counseling center at City University of Seattle will remain open!

If your family could benefit from guided support or encouragement from one of our trained counseling students with talking to young people about mental health related issues, please reach out to us over email (counseling@cityu.edu) or visit our website here: https://www.cityu.edu/student-services/counseling-center/

Mental health doesn’t take a summer break.

As routines shift and schedules change, young people still benefit from having the language, understanding, and confidence to talk about their mental health.

FLARE by NAMI helps middle school students build mental health knowledge they can carry with them — in school and beyond.

Did you know that the counseling center does telehealth appointments?

For some individuals who attend counseling, meeting with a counseling student over telehealth is a more manageable option than attending in-person appointments.
