Some North End customers may see some non-harmful water discoloration, as the change may stir up normal sediment in the distribution pipes.

The water is still safe to use.

Please be advised:
We are making adjustments to water operations that may temporarily affect drinking water in some North Seattle neighborhoods. If you live in the potentially affected area (shown in orange on the map), you may notice your tap water looks discolored at times over the next few days. The water is still safe to use, and the discoloration should clear on its own within 1–3 days.

What to do if you see discolored water:
Wait until the water clears before drinking or preparing food
Running cold water for a few minutes may help it clear faster

Why this is happening:
SPU is adjusting how water moves through the system to help manage the region’s water supply. These changes can temporarily stir up sediment in pipes, causing discoloration.

If your water does not clear after a few days or you have concerns, please contact SPU’s 24/7 Operations Response Center at (206) 386-1800
