Hello Dears—Something important is happening in the Washington massage world. The WA Massage Board is considering taking away the right of qualified Structural Integrators and massage therapists like me, the right to do external pelvic floor and ischial ramus work. This territory is vital to the success of my sessions with you, my clients. It would be devastating to not be legally allowed to work in these important areas.
Would you be willing to write an email to the Wa State massage board expressing your concerns with taking away the right of qualified and trained LMT's to work safely in the “perineal area”/pelvic floor area.
I’ve included the base of an email you can send. And if you have any other ideas of how to keep LMT’s from loosing their rights, I’d love to hear.
As a dear client of mine, it would be amazing if you could add something to the letter below about your experience with the work personally and also its efficacy. The meeting is this Friday- May 3rd at 9am, so I’m hoping to take the letters then, or if you want to just email them directly that's awesome too.
Thanks so much dear ones.... I hope to be able to continue supporting you on your wellness paths in the most therapeutic ways I have been trained to.
With deep gratitude for all of you,
Kelsi
Here’s a letter that you can use as a base to send to the massage board:
Send to: megan.maxey@doh.wa.gov
"I am a ___(fill-in: client, ND, DC, LAc, PT)_______________ in Washington State. I understand that you are reviewing the massage rule WAC 246-830-550, perineal massage.
I support the current draft language that allows massage therapists to work in the perineal area so long as they meet specific training requirements. It is essential to the profession of Structural Integrators to have access to this area of the body. The perineal area is pertinent to their work and is in their profession’s scope of practice.
I ask the Board to review the March 15, 2018 letter submitted by Deborah Nimmons, JD, Board Certified Structural Integrator™, CSP, LMT, and Marilyn Beech, Cert. Rolfer®, Board Certified Structural Integrator™, LMT which outlines the necessity of and the approach Structural Integration takes to the perineal area.”
