MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA (MHA): Get Ready for Back To School 2021! Great resources are available for immediate download.

A lot of kids and teens haven't been able to feel safe or stable over the last year because of the trauma caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ways it has disrupted “normal” life. MHA’s 2021 Back to School toolkit, “Facing Fears, Supporting Students,” aims to help students, parents, and school personnel recognize how feeling unsafe can impact mental health and school performance, and what can be done to help young people who are struggling with their mental health.

Get ready for Back to School 2021 with MHA Feeling safe is important. After meeting basic needs for survival like food, water, and sleep, feeling safe and secure is necessary before anyone can focus on relationships, learning or other opportunities for personal success.

APPLY NOW--WA STATE: Health professions in our state depend on committees, boards and commissions to advise our secretary of health on the topics, issues and reports relevant to each profession. The Washington State Department of Health is actively recruiting for public members to fill five (5) public vacancies on two of our state mental health committees.

Committees, boards and commissions are designed to give citizens a voice in their government and allow citizens to influence decisions that shape the quality of life for the residents of our state. Participation on a committee, board or commission is one of the most effective steps citizens can take in becoming an active voice in their government.

To qualify, applicants:
* Must be residents of Washington State
* May not hold a leadership position in a professional association for their profession.
* May not be employed by Washington State.
* Public members must represent the general public and be unaffiliated directly or indirectly with the professions credentialed under chapter 18.19 RCW and 18.225 RCW—mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists and social workers.

Committees and boards generally meet four times yearly and will meet virtually (during the pandemic) or at one of the department offices in either Tumwater or Kent. Members are paid $50 per day and are reimbursed for travel expenses and meals.

Facebook message us to answer any questions, share additional details, and provide an application. Thank you.
