Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS)

Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) ACRS offers hope, opportunity and voice in over 40 languages and dialects to over 26,000 people across our community.

ACRS promotes social justice and the well-being and empowerment of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and other underserved communities – including immigrants, refugees, and American-born. We provide one door, through which Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders of many generations -- immigrant, refugee, or American born -- can find the resources they need. ACRS works to transform the lives of families and individuals by helping people feed their loved ones, find jobs, access resources, gain English language, computer and job seeking skills, become American citizens, recover from addiction, and achieve mind and body wellness. We serve seniors and people with disabilities, and connect youth with job training and leadership development opportunities while ensuring that they and their families receive the support they need to succeed in a new land. ACRS supports Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and other underserved populations with advocating on behalf of themselves and their communities about issues that matter most to them.

We’re so honored to have our Club Bamboo senior program featured on the front page of The Seattle Times today! Their article beautifully captures the heart of our work in nurturing the well-being of our elders. Every day, our seniors remind us that aging is not invisibility — it’s wisdom, resilience, and joy. Club Bamboo is a place where culture is celebrated, friendships are formed, and everyone is welcomed with dignity.

The article also highlights our Ready to Work program, which helps community members prepare for the job market with confidence.

Thank you to The Seattle Times and reporter Elise Takahama for uplifting and supporting our communities, and to our ACRS staff, volunteers, and community for helping make ACRS a place where culture, connection, and care come alive every day. We’re honored to see this work recognized and even more grateful for the people who bring it to life.

ACRS is honored to partner with The Seattle Times for a special screening of 𝙍𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙙, a powerful film about mental health, family, and love in the Asian American community.

🗓 Thursday, January 8 | 6:30 PM
📍 AMC Pacific Place 11 (600 Pine St. in downtown Seattle)

After the screening, ACRS will join a panel discussion on mental health in Asian American communities. ACRS staff will also be there to share resources and connect with attendees.

🎟 Tickets: $25 via Eventbrite (advance ticket required through The Seattle Times purchased on Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/rosemeadseattle)

We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful evening of film, conversation, and community.

From gingerbread-house engineering to ugly sweaters to karaoke, our ACRS Holiday Night Market had it all. 🎄✨

Last Friday, our ACRS staff and Board of Directors came together to celebrate the end of an incredible year — singing, dancing, crafting, decorating, and sharing food like one big family.

It was an afternoon filled with joy, culture, and community, and a beautiful reminder of the people who make ACRS such a special place. Thank you to every staff member and board member who brought their energy, creativity, and heart. You are what makes our work possible. ❤️

Thank you immensely to our friends at MG2. For 17 years, you’ve helped carry forward this cherished traditions at ACRS: the annual roasted chicken distribution. Your volunteers show up with warmth, efficiency, and heart, ensuring that hundreds of elders and families receive nourishing food during the holidays. This year, we distributed over 450 roast chickens, along with Zongzi, hot congee, and red envelopes to one of the longest food bank lines we’ve seen. None of it would have been possible without your steadfast commitment and community care.

To Jerry Lee and Cordell Liu, whose leadership, generosity, and long-standing dedication helped launch and sustain this tradition — thank you for your vision and for modeling what true community stewardship looks like. Your spark of compassion has grown into an event that feeds bodies, warms hearts, and brings joy to thousands over nearly two decades. We are honored to continue this work alongside you.

To Cathay Post 186 - Seattle, thank you for joining us this year and helping bring energy, hands, and community spirit to the line and providing our community with hot tea and congee. Your support made a real difference, and we look forward to growing this partnership and tradition together in the years ahead. Because of MG2, Jerry Lee, Cordell Liu, and Cathay Post #186, hundreds of warm meals made their way into the hands of our neighbors this season. You helped make the holidays brighter, the line move smoother, and the community feel held, fed, and seen. Thank you!
