Historic milestone for Kitsap County! St. Michael Medical Center officially opened its new patient tower in Silverdale on December 10, marking a transformative moment for healthcare access in the region.
The new North Tower adds 74 beds to the campus, significantly expanding hospital capacity to meet our community's growing needs. This project has been years in the making, following state approval in 2017.
St. Michael operates one of the busiest emergency departments in Washington State, and the new tower will help relieve pressure on emergency services. Combined with upcoming expansions like the hybrid emergency department and urgent care facility in Port Orchard, these investments strengthen healthcare access across Kitsap County.
The increased capacity supports growth in key specialties including spine surgery, orthopedics, OB-GYN, cardiology, gastroenterology, and cancer care.
"We have proudly served Kitsap County for more than 100 years, and our commitment to expand access to care is stronger than ever," said Chad Melton, Interim President, Puget Sound Market, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. "The new tower will bring even more services to patients, ease demand on our emergency department, and create more job opportunities for local residents. I couldn't be more proud of the team for bringing this vision to life and building a stronger foundation for our next 100 years."
