Winter Ayurvedic guidance, for those visiting or living in places that are cold and dry (it might be snowy or rainy, but the air feels dry). What is happening in our outer environment is also happening inside of us (our internal environment), and we can mitigate imbalance with simple daily or frequent choices. Awareness is the first step!

Recommended as a daily practice, Nasya is an ancient Ayurvedic therapy used to improve cogniton, brain health, immunity, seasonal allergies, headaches, anxiety, stress, and tension.

We highly recommend the nasya oils from . This morning I used their regular Nasya Oil, which contains herbs like gout kola and calamus that help with mental clarity and focus. Their Super Nasya Oil blend, which we sell in clinic, helps to reduce chronic congestion and also supports cognition, nasal lubrication, immunity, and emotional well-being.

How to use: with head tilted back, place 3-5 drops into each nostril. Sniff a few times as you gently open and close your nostrils with your fingers.

Sleep is not only about how many hours you get, but when your body receives them.
Ayurveda teaches that the body follows a daily cycle guided by the doshas, and restoring balance begins with honoring this rhythm.

10 PM to 2 AM is the Pitta time of night. This is when the body repairs tissues, detoxifies, and resets metabolic and hormonal systems. Staying awake during this time can overstimulate the mind and lead to restless or delayed sleep.

2 AM to 6 AM is the Vata time of night. This lighter, clearer energy supports dreaming, mental organization, and waking feeling refreshed and clear.

Going to sleep before 10 PM and waking near sunrise aligns the body with its natural intelligence and leads to deeper rest, steadier energy, and improved nervous system stability.
Ayurvedic evening tips:
• Warm herbal tea
• Oil self-massage (abhyanga)
• Gentle breathing or meditation
• Phone off by 9 PM

Honor the rhythm. Restore deeply.

Panchakarma is an ancient Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation therapy aimed at restoring balance and health to the body’s doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. It involves five highly effective therapeutic actions: Vamana (therapeutic emesis), Virechana (purgation), Nasya (nasal administration), Basti (medicated enemas), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting), each targeting the removal of specific toxins (ama) and imbalances.

This process begins with Purva Karma, a preparatory phase that includes Snehana (internal and external oleation) and Swedana (sudation or sweating) to mobilize toxins. The main procedure, Pradhana Karma, follows, focusing on eliminating toxins through the specified therapeutic actions. The final stage, Paschat Karma, involves dietary and lifestyle regimens to rebuild the body’s immunity and wellness through Rasayana (rejuvenative medicines) and a specialized diet. Panchakarma not only aims to cleanse the digestive system and improve metabolic processes (Agni) but also enhances mental clarity and spiritual growth.
