A great time was had by all earlier this month at The After Party, a PMA fundraiser! Here's just a handful of our favorite photos capturing the night. The drinks flowed, the music jammed, and our end-of-life community partners all shined. Many thanks to everyone for making it a very special night.

We had a great time the past three Mondays out at Mercer Island Community & Events Center for our Ducks in a Row series. PMA Comms Director Rachel clearly got real concerned for attendees during her Funeral Options presentation! 🤣

We're always thrilled to have Rebecca from out for the Advance Directives portion (slide 2) (and shout out to lawyer Emily Tyson-Shu for the Estate Planning Intro, sad we missed snapping a pic!)

Let us know if your group or org is interested in having PMA provide Deathcare education! In person or Zoom.

You've heard of gift baskets... But what about a Gift Casket?! That's right, for The After Party on October 4th, we'll be auctioning off this sky blue, handcrafted, recycled wood casket, full of gift cards, good wine, and other goodies! (Chris Ronk, funeral director extraordinaire not included 😜) Tell all your spooky friends their dream of having a casket for decor can be achieved! Or, if bringing it home isn't your thing, the winner can also elect to donate it to a family in need. Come try your bidding luck next Saturday 10/4! Tickets on sale now, link in bio

It's official -- we're throwing a party and you're invited! We've asked our friends Recompose, Return Home, Resting Waters, and End of Life WA to help us make Saturday October 4th a night to remember... Til death do us part! Big thanks to our sponsors Grief Dialogues and Grain and Garnish, and venue Mini Mart City Park.

Come have fun with music and games, learn what's happening in progressive death care, win a raffle (or even the Gift Casket 😱) all while supporting funeral education and advocacy. Tickets and more info: https://peoplesmemorial.org/theafterparty This is a 21+ event.

Twas the month of all Hallows and nothing to do
when all of a sudden your invite came through
What’s this, a party to learn about urns
Caskets and funerals and places that burns
Your body to ashes and composting too
And Aquamation, to name just a few
Why isn’t that something, it sounds like a hoot
A party with favors and raffles to boot
Why not, I thought, it might be fun
When all else is said and done
To know where my bones will be
On my child’s mantel or out to sea
They say people are dying to get into
the AFTER PARTY

Many thanks to for arranging our Comms director Rachel to appear on the Todd Ortloff show on KONP on the WA peninsula. His expert hosting skills moved our conversation about the history of the US death industry and advice on choosing a funeral home right along!

People’s Memorial Association and The Co-op Funeral Home are shocked and saddened by the news of our professional colleagues of Columbia Funeral Home being victims of arson. A sister funeral home to PMA partner Weeks' Dryer in Tacoma, Columbia has been a pillar of the south Seattle community since 1907. In an industry that already faces many hardships, we need more providers than ever, making this tragedy even harder. Our hearts are with Columbia's staff as they navigate this challenging time and the impact it has had on their client families. We stand in solidarity with those who have devoted their careers to compassionately serving others in times of need and wish them a speedy recovery from this devastating situation.

Free urn program! Did you know -- PMA has decorative urns donated from thoughtful individuals, for those who cannot afford to buy one. Local Seattle pick-up from our office is available for anyone, regardless of what funeral home provided your services. Give us a call if you're in need to schedule a pick-up appointment!

Unfortunately we're unable to ship them at this time, but we encourage those outside the area to consider starting your own program to help your community. (We can accept mailed donations.)

This article is from way back in 2021, but it covers an issue that is affecting more and more people across the country. As small medical providers are scooped up in mergers like the one in the article, it's possible that you could be relying on care from an institution that doesn't match up to your own values. If you have strong feelings about this issue, you may want to look up End of Life Washington's "Directive Regarding Healthcare Institution Refusing to Honor My HealthCare Choices." This form, as well as a power-of-attorney for healthcare, can help ensure that you receive the kind of care you want for yourself when you are unable to advocate for your needs.

In August, the Times Union published an alarming story reporting that end-of-life care...
