Peony Peony is an acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine practice owned and founded by Paige Barnes in Seattle.

The Latin name “Paeonia,” derives from the name “Paeon.” Paeon was a Greek disciple of Asclepus, the god of medicine. In Traditional Chinese medicine, peony is a foundational herb commonly used to support women’s health and injury due to trauma. Ancient Chinese poets depict peonies as a symbol of honor, abundance, love, affection and feminine beauty.

Trouble sleeping?
A simple foot soak ritual for deeper rest 🌿

Fresh ginger warms the body and settles the breath.
Pour. Soak. Sip. Breathe.

Sometimes, rest begins at the feet ✨🫖🕯️

🫖How to Prepare Fresh Ginger Tea 🫚

🌿Slice 12 pieces of fresh ginger, each about 2–3 mm thick (roughly the size of a nickel).

🌿Add the slices to 4 cups of water.

🌿 Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer for 10–15 minutes.

🌿 Set aside 1 cup of the ginger tea to sip during the ritual.

🌿 Reserve 1 cup to pour into your foot soak.

✨Enjoy ✨

This is Championship Chicken with Goji Berries — a simple, nourishing meal.

In East Asian medicine:
• 🍗 Chicken supports qi and blood, offering resilience and wound healing.
• 🔴 Goji berries (gou qi zi) nourish blood and fluids to support energy and concentration.
• 🌱 Fresh ginger (sheng jiang) warms the middle, supporting gut motility and ease.
• 🧅 Scallions (cong bai) gently move qi, support circulation, and help bring warmth to the surface of the body.

Together, this meal is warming, grounding, and supportive when digestion feels sluggish, cold, or depleted.

I make this when I want something comforting and functional — food that feeds the body without asking too much of it.

Treasured Secret ✨ How to Be with Winter

“Retire early, rise late… as though you are keeping a treasured secret. Avoid the cold and seek warmth. Do not sweat. Conserve. Store.”
— Huangdi Neijing, Suwen, Chapter 2 (On Regulating the Spirit with the Seasons)

Winter returns you to the art of keeping a treasured secret—to shut the doors and store, to guard your essence like roots beneath the frost, and to let yourself rest. This is the season when your illumination moves deep into your body to be renewed, as if a golden treasure settles at the bottom of the ocean, to rest and be cared for by the dark, salty waters.

Winter invites you to:
Retire early; rise only after sunrise.
Stay still, quiet, introspective.
Avoid overexertion — for effort leaks your stored essence.
Move inward and downward, like seeds hidden in the earth.

Nothing is forced. Nothing is spilled. Conserve, so that spring knows where to find you.

If you’re longing for winter rituals that honor what is precious and help you store your essence, my Luminosity & Soul Together offering is available to support you.

Ghost Heart ♡
Today I shared Ghost Heart, the second ritual of Ghost Souls.

We explored the connection between your heart and your lungs. Your lungs are the messengers of your heart.

We worked with dried ginger to warm from within and Sarah essential oil to expand your breathing capacity. ✨

This was also the first time I introduced the ritual cards — companions for each practice that you can return to anytime.

Two more rituals remain in this series.
You can experience Ghost Souls through the cards (now available) or join the live retreat on November 16th on Vashon Island.
