In an effort to stay true to the purpose of this page, which is to present a fair balance regarding cannabis, I have to share this new study from the ACC. This isn’t the type of study I enjoy sharing, but it's something everyone should know about to weigh the risk vs. benefits. Personally, I am a mid-50-year-old man and have noticed tachycardia when using cannabis for sleep. While using any form of cannabis for sleep, I commonly wake up with multiple warnings from my smart watch, which I wear 24/7 to monitor my vitals, that my heart BPM has been >100 for >10 min while inactive. This is called tachycardia. I have also used a 2-lead ECG and watched the sinus rhythm of my heart during these episodes, and it bounces around, not in a normal manner. My resting heart rate is generally around 65-75. Typically, it goes away after about 1-2 hours, and longer if I consumed an edible. This study was just published in May 2025.
