As always, we support our sisters, not just our “cis-ters.”

International Women's Day was founded in 1911, and in our modern times, today’s holiday now advocates for an end to discrimination based on s*x and gender, for everyone!

Protea Wellness firmly agrees with this mission. But, not only does International Women’s Day highlight the need to end s*x and gender-based discrimination for everyone, we wholeheartedly support shining a spotlight on the urgent need to end the oppression and exploitation of women and girls.

Sexism has no place in a just society!

With awe and respect, this Black History Month, Protea Wellness thanks Dr. Carter G. Woodson, a renowned historian, author, scholarly journal founder, college dean, and tireless advocate for teaching African American history.

Dr. Carter passed away in 1950, but his monumental life’s work, promoting the documentation and teaching of African American History, led to the modern version of Black History Month, formalized in the United States in 1986.

Although Dr. Cliff Arnall’s original claim, that the 3rd Monday in January is the most depressing day of the year, at least for people in the Northern Hemisphere who experience a mood drop following winter holidays.

While a calculation of a calendar date this specific has been debunked, there is some genuine truth to the notion that many people do experience something like the Blue Monday phenomenon, regardless.
