Featuring Dr. Chris Bundy, Executive Medical Director of WPHP, this on-demand session reviews the critical importance of physician well-being, highlighting the prevalence and root causes of physician burnout, the evolution of Federation of State Medical Boards policy on well-being, and the latest reforms in licensure to reduce stigma and support help-seeking behavior. 📖 Free CME Course on Clinician Well-being Available Now!

Clinician well-being is an important contributor to patient safety and quality of care. Research has shown that when healthcare professionals are distressed, they tend to be less attentive, less empathic, and more likely to commit medical errors.

This introductory course by UF Continuing Medical Education describes strategies to improve clinician well-being and professional fulfillment. It reviews drivers of distress embedded in the healthcare system while highlighting individual risk factors that are common among healthcare professionals. Lessons focus on methods and resources to promote professional fulfillment within the healthcare setting by improving the culture, reducing inefficiencies, and accessing available supports.

Dr. Chris Bundy, Executive Medical Director of the Washington Physicians Health Program, will present "Controlled Substances: Keeping Yourself and Your Colleagues Safe" to first-year anesthesiology residents at UW Medicine this evening.

This session will explore the potential impact of controlled substances on the well-being of residents, colleagues, and patients. Dr. Bundy will also highlight resources and strategies for maintaining a supportive and safe environment.

Medical students navigate an academically demanding and emotionally challenging path to their careers. Throughout this process, many medical students face significant stress that can impact their overall wellbeing. Acknowledging these unique challenges is the first step toward creating a healthier, more sustainable healthcare workforce.

To explain why it can be difficult for medical students to seek support and help lay the foundation for creating an effective self-care plan, Dr. Chris Bundy, Executive Medical Director of the Washington Physicians Health Program, is presenting "The Sick Physician" to students at the University of Washington School of Medicine - WWAMI this afternoon.

Dr. Laura Moss, Associate Medical Director of the Washington Physicians Health Program (WPHP), will present this afternoon at All GME Day hosted by WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine in Spokane, Wash.

During this presentation, Dr. Moss will review health conditions that may impact trainees, define physician impairment, and describe how WPHP can serve as a resource for trainees and attendings in Washington.
