Washington ranks 3rd in the nation for most unaffordable child care.
For families, that number isn’t abstract — it shapes decisions about work, stability, and well-being every single day.

Thank you, Child Care Aware of Washington for continuing to shine a light on the realities families face.

The numbers don’t lie: Washington families are already paying too much for child care. We must say NO to more cuts.

For more stats like this one, CCA of WA has a tool on our website where you can find data specific to your county. These numbers are great to include when you write to your legislators! https://childcareawarewa.org/data-advocacy/child-care-data-statistics/

Across our country, and most urgently in Minnesota, we are witnessing escalating actions that violate fundamental human and civil rights.

When families are afraid to leave their homes, seek medical care, send their children to school, or access community services, the foundations of community well-being begin to erode.

This is not a political stance.
It is a moral one.

WithinReach works every day to ensure families can access care, connection, and community-based support. When people are made to feel afraid and unsafe simply for existing, for seeking help, or for belonging to a targeted group this work becomes impossible.

This fear does not stop with the families we serve. It is felt by our staff who show up every day to answer calls, connect parents to care, and support communities under strain — many of whom are members of the very communities being targeted. Carrying this work in moments of crisis takes an emotional toll, even as our commitment remains unwavering.

In the face of human rights violations neutrality enables their continuation.

We therefore affirm the following:
• Every person deserves safety, dignity, and due process.
• Families must be able to seek care, education, and support without fear.
• Children should never be collateral damage.
• Community health depends on trust.

We stand with families, communities, and partners in calling for accountability, restraint, and a return to fundamental human values.

In Shared Commitment,

Sharon Silver
Chief Executive Officer, WithinReach
