Strong, evidence-based guidance that puts newborn health first. Sharing the latest from The West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA):

The West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA) strongly supports that hepatitis B vaccination continue to be routinely offered to all newborns, with the first dose of the vaccine given within 24 hours of birth for newborns weighing at least 2,000 grams (4 pounds, 7 ounces), followed by completion of the vaccine series. This recommendation aligns with trusted national medical organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Grateful to be part of this year’s BUILD 2025: The Heart of the Matter conference, where so many leaders are working to strengthen systems for young children and families.

Our team — Lark Kesterke (Help Me Grow WA Network Director), Karina Wiggins (Help Me Grow WA Program Director), and Sarah Salomon (Dara Systems & Evaluation Director)— had the chance to share the work happening in Washington to support families impacted by perinatal substance use, explore how community-based organizations and child welfare agencies can collaborate with intention, and lift up how Help Me Grow is tailoring services to better support families.

Thankful for our partners — including Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families and Help Me Grow National— who co-presented with us and continue to build this work alongside us. It’s an honor to learn with and from so many people committed to strong beginnings and strong systems. 💜
