On World Psoriasis Day, we want to bring special attention to a common comorbidity of psoriasis: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA). There are unfortunately no diagnostic tests for psoriatic arthritis, but Dr. Stocker outlines common symptoms that can lead to a clinical diagnosis. PsA can be especially dangerous because if left untreated, it can cause permanent damage to your joints. So please, please, please — if you’re having any kind of joint pain, but especially with a family history of psoriasis, see a provider for a diagnosis! We also strongly recommend the resources available on the Arthritis Foundation, National Psoriasis Foundation, and Society for Women’s Health Research websites for more information on PsA, how it can impact you, and how to seek treatment and relief.
