So, think of it as layers of "gunk" or scar tissue that accumulate over time in the hip and shoulder joints. It's kind of like the body’s version of old grease building up in the gears of a machine. Over time, these tissues and adhesions can create a kind of stiffness or that crackly sensation you feel when you move. It's basically the body's way of layering down a kind of biological "patch" after strain, injury, or even just repetitive use. So when we work on it, we're basically trying to smooth out those gears, break down some of that scar tissue, and get things gliding more freely again.
