When a child suddenly changes, parents often ask:

“What happened to my child?”

Join us for OCD Washington’s Lunch & Learn Series:
Raising Awareness of PANDAS/PANS

PANDAS and PANS can show up suddenly — with OCD symptoms, anxiety, mood changes, or other neuropsychiatric shifts that feel confusing and overwhelming for families.

In this session, we’ll cover:
• The biological processes behind PANDAS/PANS
• How to recognize key symptoms
• First-line treatment options
• Barriers to care and local resources to support families

Whether you're a parent, educator, clinician, or community member, this conversation is about increasing understanding and reducing isolation.

Happy New Year, everyone!
Right now we're reflecting on OCD Washington's 2025, particularly our first ever Bravewave Collective camp. At camp, each day of the week had it's own theme that drove our activities. 💫
For this first week of the new year we will be sharing photos and memories each day that capture the spirit of each theme.

Friday, the final day, was PERFORM. Campers tackled social anxiety with improv games and an "untalent show"- a chance to try abilities without the pretense or pressure of actually being good at them. Some campers sang songs while others caught popcorn in their mouths or acted out a sword fight ⚔️.
For a final "performance", parents got to watch a slideshow of photos like these collected over the course of the week.

OCD Washington and Bravewave Collective are so grateful to everyone who helped this camp happen. The IOCDF, our campers and their families, our volunteers and staff... Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are so excited for 2026 and can't wait for all of this year's upcoming community events 💗

Thursday was CREATE- when campers got to explore their artistic sides through painting, collages, bracelet making, and more!
Art can be a powerful tool in therapy. Creating something provides a sense of accomplishment and pride while the act of art-making can be mindful and peaceful 🌈. Campers created a joint OCD Monster which they destroyed together on the final day of camp.

Wednesday was EXPLORE- when we checked out new places and tried new things, including exposures!
OCD can keep you confined and narrow your world. It was important to us to foster a sense of curiosity and wonder that leads to exploration, helping to push back against OCD's demands! 🗺️

Tuesday was PLAY- when we got to indulge in the camp side of camp. It is important to take a break from exposures and engage in enjoyable, fun activities! Sometimes being silly brings levity to a heavy situation 🪩

Monday was CONNECT- when our campers (and staff!) got to know one another and find connection over a shared battle against OCD.
Some campers shared that this was their first time meeting someone else with OCD. Connection, friendship, and camaraderie are some of the most powerful tools we have in treatment and recovery 🫂
