Swedish Center for Perinatal Bonding & Support

Swedish Center for Perinatal Bonding & Support The Center for Perinatal Bonding & Support is a supportive, comprehensive program serving pregnant & postpartum moms with mood & anxiety disorders.

The Center for Perinatal Bonding & Support at Swedish is a supportive, comprehensive Partial Hospitalization Program (Day Program) serving patients who are in their third trimester of pregnancy or within the first year postpartum. We specialize in treating women experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety or other adjustment challenges that make it difficult to function or care for themselves or their babies. The Day Program is an outpatient partial hospitalization program serving the mental health needs of pregnant and postpartum patients. We foster a supportive community where you can speak openly and get help for symptoms including sleeplessness, uncontrollable worrying, emptiness, not feeling like yourself, intrusive thoughts, anxiety and more. At the Day Program you can expect:
• A combination of group therapy and individual short term follow-up care
• Practical skills and psychotherapy drawing from a variety of modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and attachment
• Support with mother-baby bonding
• The opportunity to connect with other moms experiencing similar symptoms
• Medication management and evaluation with one of the reproductive psychiatrists (if needed)

Moms are encouraged to bring their babies. The program is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday-Thursday; women attend for one to three weeks, as recommended by the care team. For more information or to schedule an intake, please call 206-320-7288

Next time you’re overwhelmed, it can help to HALT. Take inventory of those needs and adjust what you’re able. And for the postpartum parent, we often add two more T’s: Toilet and Thirsty- since we are so good at ignoring our needs. Try practicing HALT after you STOP.
