You might not know this, but Swanson Speech Therapy provides onsite services throughout the community, including at Agape Child Care Center. We love our local partners who make space for us to work with kiddos in ways that fit them best. 👋 Meet Bettye! The newest member of our team, she has extensive and diverse experience. Her clinical focus is in the following areas: speech sound production, receptive and expressive language delays, social communication, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), behavior therapy, gestalt language processing, parent coaching, play based therapy, early language delays (e.g., late talkers), and family processing in receiving an autism diagnosis. We love that she has an individualized, compassionate, and flexible approach to therapy. Her philosophy is to provide meaningful, holistic, and engaging therapy to help clients and their families feel empowered and motivated to accomplish their goals.

Sometimes therapy doesn’t go exactly as planned, and we have to improvise a bit! Before words come gestures, and these intenional movements fufill three core functions: Social Interaction, Behavior Regulation & Joint Attention. You can support your child’s communication growth in a number of simple ways, like pairing “bye-bye” with a wave, and pausing to let your child copy your gestures.
