Humility, dignity, and integrity are three attitudes of the mind-heart that allow us to transform our daily lives into our monastery for practice. When we cultivate humility, dignity, and integrity, they empower us to counter balance the ego’s clinging and grasping.

This online retreat will consist of sitting and walking meditation, short dharma talks, and time for questions and responses. Register for the Friday event, and one or two days of the weekend retreat at seattleinsight.org

Join Seattle Insight’s Climate Action Group for another Meditation Walk in the ancient, magical forest at Seward Park tomorrow, October 12, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

We will meet in the meadow adjacent to Shelter #3 across the road from the trailhead and near the bathrooms:

We’ll have an initial circle, offer a land acknowledgment, followed by suggestions of intentions or ideas for contemplation as we walk for about an hour through the forest.

Happening tomorrow

The world of 2025 is unsettled—climate disruption, political division, social tension, and personal stress are woven into daily life. Yet the Buddha’s first teaching, the Four Noble Truths, reminds us that suffering (dukkha) is not only inevitable but workable—and that freedom is possible here and now.
This daylong retreat directly supports Seattle Insight’s annual teaching theme by bringing the timeless truths of the Dhamma into our contemporary moment. We will explore how the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path are not abstract concepts, but living practices that meet our real struggles with clarity, compassion, and steadiness.

Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM PT (Hybrid: In-person + Online)
Teachers: Nana Gyesie, with Assistant Teachers and Local Dharma Leaders Sooz Appel, Judith Avinger, Nina Laboy, and Candace Robb

What We’ll Explore Together
How suffering arises in today’s world—personally and collectively—and how we can respond wisely.
How the Eightfold Path provides a practical framework for freedom in our relationships, work, and communities.
What awakening means in contemporary times—and how it can be lived out in ordinary daily life.

Through guided meditation, Dhamma talks, mindful walking, and group reflection, we’ll practice not just understanding suffering, but transforming our relationship to it. This retreat is not about temporary relief. It is about real transformation—embodying the in a way that sustains us in these challenging times.

Register today at Seattle Insight's website. We hope to see you there!
