Happening tomorrow
The world of 2025 is unsettled—climate disruption, political division, social tension, and personal stress are woven into daily life. Yet the Buddha’s first teaching, the Four Noble Truths, reminds us that suffering (dukkha) is not only inevitable but workable—and that freedom is possible here and now.
This daylong retreat directly supports Seattle Insight’s annual teaching theme by bringing the timeless truths of the Dhamma into our contemporary moment. We will explore how the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path are not abstract concepts, but living practices that meet our real struggles with clarity, compassion, and steadiness.
Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM PT (Hybrid: In-person + Online)
Teachers: Nana Gyesie, with Assistant Teachers and Local Dharma Leaders Sooz Appel, Judith Avinger, Nina Laboy, and Candace Robb
What We’ll Explore Together
How suffering arises in today’s world—personally and collectively—and how we can respond wisely.
How the Eightfold Path provides a practical framework for freedom in our relationships, work, and communities.
What awakening means in contemporary times—and how it can be lived out in ordinary daily life.
Through guided meditation, Dhamma talks, mindful walking, and group reflection, we’ll practice not just understanding suffering, but transforming our relationship to it. This retreat is not about temporary relief. It is about real transformation—embodying the in a way that sustains us in these challenging times.
