Seattle, WA — An unprecedented number of requests to work with Dr. Jolene Simpson has led FAST to launch feasibility planning for a strategic cloning initiative.

The proposal aims to preserve stellar, evidence-driven services while increasing access to the most-requested evaluator on our team.

- Ethics review: Pending, tabbed, highlighted, and sitting in a serious-looking 3-ring binder
- Scientists in white lab coats: Standing at the ready

For now, we remain profoundly grateful for the one and only Dr. Simpson, who continues to prove that true excellence is, regrettably, irreplaceable.

In a season that tends to magnify absence and loss, we’re deeply grateful to be part of a forensic psychology community that shows up for one another.

This year, FAST psychologists and family near and far jumped right in to support this longstanding holiday gift-adoption effort. Local FASTies wrapped gift after gift with care. Our collective efforts will brighten a Tacoma family's Christmas morning ✨

A standing ovation goes out to the legendary Dr. Heavin and her team for spearheading this year's ambitious gifting effort! Moments like this remind us of how lucky we are to work with such generous and engaged colleagues.

Forensic evaluators often face the challenge of assessing cognitive abilities for examinees from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Because missteps in this area carry serious consequences, true expertise is essential.

Today, FAST had the honor of learning from Dr. Krissie Fernandez Smith, a board-certified forensic psychologist, whose presentation offered nuance, depth, and actionable guidance for navigating this complex terrain. We are deeply grateful for Dr. Smith's time, generosity, and commitment to advancing culturally-informed best practices in forensic evaluation.

At FAST, we feel incredibly fortunate to learn from top-notch speakers who advance our field.

On Friday, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Silber, a board certified forensic psychologist, who shared innovative strategies for assessing response style and potential malingering. His recommendations enhance the accuracy of our opinions and strengthen the integrity of our evaluations.

But the excitement doesn't stop there! This Friday, Dr. Fernandez Smith, also a board certified forensic psychologist, will tackle one of the thorniest evaluation scenarios we face, in her talk titled "Linguistic and Cultural Considerations When Assessing Cognitive Abilities."

It’s deeply gratifying to do this work with the support of such outstanding colleagues and educators.
