Dear Seattle area meditators,
Amongst the many things that are changing in our lives right now, sadly, it is time to close down the Seattle Vipassana Hall. Between the ongoing expenses, the relentless city traffic, and now the pandemic, SVH is not sustainable. Another factor is the remarkable success of the Virtual Group Sittings. Most days, morning and evening, there are more meditators sitting together on those Zoom calls than ever joined in at SVH. No doubt in the future, if the community of old students wants another hall, one will arise.
The timing of this closure comes one year into a five year lease. As we are responsible for the rent until a new occupant can be found, we ask that if you know or hear of anyone who might be interested in renting the space, please have them contact Dean at jdtgen@gmail.com.
Thank you to all the many people who helped make SVH possible these past nine years. To those of you who served directly at the hall, and you who contributed your dana, either financially, or with the hard work of developing your paramis, may you enjoy the fruits of those many merits. And may you carry on, and continue to walk the path of dhamma.
