Housed in the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW), we are a disabled student-run, student-lead advocacy organization committed to the access and needs of disabled students, staff, and faculty at UW. We understand disability as not merely an individual or medical problem, but rather the result of attitudinal and physical barriers preventing full participation in society. We strive to foster an environment that is not only accepting and accessible, but celebratory of people with disabilities through social, educational, and cultural programming.

CW: Research on Sexual Assault

Over the past 10 years, in response to data indicating that as many as 1 in 5 undergraduates students have experienced sexual assault on college campuses across the US, there has been substantial efforts made to improvise prevention and response. Much of those efforts leave out students with disabilities, even though these students are at a far greater risks of sexual violence.

Hear from researchers Christine Lew, Aliza Saijad, and Megan McCliskey regarding their 2021 study to asses the accessibility and inclusivity of UW's sexual assault prevention and response efforts.

Join us during your lunch break on this Friday, May 10th, 12-1pm to learn more about the results of the study, and understand how we can all work towards a safer, more accessible campus for students with disabilities.

CALL TO ACTION: Demand The Reformation of Disability Resources for Students (DRS)

It has been well documented for many years that the University has failed to adequately support disabled students and the units on campus that provide services/resources for these students. It's our intent to bring campus-wide awareness to the issues plaguing DRS, in hopes of gaining the institutional support necessary to create the lasting change this office needs to properly serve disabled students.
