💔 This is such a tough one, especially considering the tragic circumstances. Rob Reiner is literally the reason I went into the film business/editing years ago. All his movies were so inspirational to me - charming, funny, heartfelt, with a hopeful view of humanity. Never got to work with him, but I did get to meet his long-time editor Bob Leighton, who talked with me about editing what it was like to work with Rob. He had nothing but good things to say. Also just realizing I unknowingly walked by his house countless times over the years when I lived in his neighborhood.
We watch “The American President”, “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Princess Bride” annually because they genuinely make us feel good. A testament to his character that translates to the screen and makes those movies stand the test of time. My friends know that “The Princess Bride” is my all-time favorite movie and my ‘litmus’ test when I meet new people. If they love the PB, that’s all I need to know. That says a lot! That movie was a huge inspiration for my own book/screenplay as well.
Very saddened by this news, and at the same time, so heartened to see he had this effect on everyone. Nearly… RIP Rob Reiner. You were the greatest.
