Laura has been fascinated by health, nutrition, and weight management ever since reading Fit For Life as a teenager. Since then, she’s read every nutrition book she could find, always searching for the right diet to achieve her ideal weight and health. But often, this left her more confused than clear as each method claimed to be the best. How could they all be right? Weight management was one thing, but it wasn’t until her father became sick with stage 4 colon cancer in 2001 that she began to learn about the connection between diet and disease. She watched helplessly as he suffered through the standard chemotherapies, surgeries, and drug remedies. When none of these traditional ‘treatments’ were able to save him, she knew there had to be a better way. All around her, people were struggling in confusion with everything from weight problems and digestive disorders to chronic diseases and mysterious, elusive ailments. She thought that for such a health-oriented nation, we must be doing something wrong that’s causing us to be “fat, sick, and nearly dead”, not to mention hooked on prescription drugs! Through books and documentaries, she learned about how processed foods are literally killing us. And she saw people balancing their weight and healing themselves from serious diseases like diabetes, heart disease, colitis, and even cancer by making simple dietary changes that brought their bodies back into balance. She was inspired to help people do this through nutritional education and coaching, but there was still a burning question that held her back: What IS the best diet for everyone? When she met Kristy Dotson at Nutrition Coach Network, she learned about Metabolic Typing, which demonstrates that we are all unique in our nutritional requirements, and that one man’s food can be another man’s poison. With renewed inspiration, she got certified as a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner from the University of Natural Health and created Totally Grody Health & Wellness. 💔 This is such a tough one, especially considering the tragic circumstances. Rob Reiner is literally the reason I went into the film business/editing years ago. All his movies were so inspirational to me - charming, funny, heartfelt, with a hopeful view of humanity. Never got to work with him, but I did get to meet his long-time editor Bob Leighton, who talked with me about editing what it was like to work with Rob. He had nothing but good things to say. Also just realizing I unknowingly walked by his house countless times over the years when I lived in his neighborhood.
We watch “The American President”, “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Princess Bride” annually because they genuinely make us feel good. A testament to his character that translates to the screen and makes those movies stand the test of time. My friends know that “The Princess Bride” is my all-time favorite movie and my ‘litmus’ test when I meet new people. If they love the PB, that’s all I need to know. That says a lot! That movie was a huge inspiration for my own book/screenplay as well.
Very saddened by this news, and at the same time, so heartened to see he had this effect on everyone. Nearly… RIP Rob Reiner. You were the greatest.

Fun night seeing my friend and coworker Jason Sharp in 14/48 — 14 plays conceived, written, directed, blocked, designed and performed over 48 hours. Whew! 🎭 Great job by this large cast & crew! Lots of laughter in the audience.
