Wondering what a shockwave therapy session is actually like? 🤔

It’s more than just the treatment itself. We start with a conversation so we understand your history, your symptoms, and what you’re trying to achieve. Not every injury needs shockwave, and we only use it when it truly fits your recovery plan.

During the session you’ll feel rhythmic pulses of pressure over the targeted area. Most people say it feels uncomfortable but tolerable, not painful, and we check in with you the whole time to keep it within your comfort level.

After treatment you might feel a bit achy, kind of like after a good workout. That usually settles within a couple of days, and many people notice small improvements in pain or movement even after the first session.

To support the best results, avoid hardcore workouts for 24 to 48 hours, try to skip anti-inflammatory meds if you can, and stick with your rehab and movement plan. Shockwave works best when recovery and loading go hand in hand!

One of the most common questions we get in physical therapy is:

“How do I know where my pain is actually coming from?”

Here’s a simple way we help narrow it down 👇

🟢 Muscle-related pain
Often feels dull, tight, or achy.
Usually worse with use, stretching, or pressure, and may feel better once you warm up.

🔵 Joint-related pain
Feels deeper, stiffer, or more “blocked.”
Often worse at the start or end of movement and may come with limited range of motion or swelling.

🔴 Nerve-related pain
Feels sharp, burning, electric, or shooting.
May travel down an arm or leg and can be paired with tingling, numbness, or weakness.

Understanding where your pain is coming from helps guide the right rehab plan — not just symptom relief, but addressing the underlying driver of the problem.

That’s why assessment and movement testing matter.

And if pain keeps hanging around, it’s worth getting it checked by a qualified physical therapist.

Because the right treatment starts with the right diagnosis.

When nothing else seems to move the needle, sometimes it’s about using the right tool at the right time. Shockwave helps break up tissue restrictions, boost blood flow, and stimulate healing where your body needs it most.

Quick sessions, big impact. If you’ve been stuck with lingering pain, this might be your game-changer.

Struggling to get back into your routine after the holidays? You’re not alone 💪🎄

Late nights, extra sitting, and a different pace? Totally normal. Your body adapted to that rhythm, and that’s not a setback. It shows your flexibility. The goal now isn’t to catch up in one go. It’s to ease back in with consistency and care.

Start smaller than you think. Try shorter workouts, lighter loads, and more rest days. Your body responds better to regular movement than to pushing too hard too fast.

Focus on how you move, not just how much. A longer warm-up, mindful movement, and noticing the difference between stiffness and pain makes a big difference. This builds trust between your brain and body again.

And remember, progress doesn’t have to hurt. A little challenge with energy left in the tank is the sweet spot. That’s how you rebuild strength, momentum, and confidence without burning out.
