Seadrunar, a Pioneer in Drug and Alcohol Treatment, Introduces New Name After 53 Years of Helping Seattle-Area Community
The new name and logo, Key Recovery and Life Skills Center, more explicitly conveys their commitment to supporting individuals in developing healthy behaviors and skills for a sustainable recovery.
SEATTLE, Wash. (September 13, 2021): Seadrunar, a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment facility in South King County, has announced a new name: Key Recovery & Life Skills Center. The new name more aptly describes the organization’s services and its goals to unlock a future filled with opportunity for individuals with substance use disorders.
Founded in 1968 by Nan Busby, Key Recovery was the first long-term residential drug and alcohol center in Seattle. For more than fifty years, Key Recovery & Life Skills Center has helped individuals develop healthy behaviors to establish a sustainable recovery. Key Recovery provides individuals a safe and supportive homelike environment, and a therapeutic community for adults and their child(ren) between the ages of birth to age 12.
Key Recovery and Life Skills Center’s evidence-based treatment is designed with the goal of reuniting families, adding contributing individuals to society, reducing crime, and restoring trust towards those in recovery. Key Recovery offers three stages of support: Long-Term Residential, Recovery House, and After Care.
Sheri Healey, who took over management in 2009 after years of working in the organization with her mother Nan, wanted the new name and logo to reflect both the homelike environment provided by Key Recovery & Life Skills Center as well as the three intensive treatment programs that unlock a future of positive opportunities for clients. Specifically, the logo displays three keys which represents the three treatment programs offered. The handle of each key is a house to reflect the homelike environment, and the key ring is a heart which symbolizes the safe, loving, and supportive care Key Recover & Life Skills Center provides for clients in treatment.
“We are proud to share our new name, we believe it more clearly reflects our services and goals in treating individuals with substance use disorders,” said Key Recovery & Life Skills Center long time Executive Director, Sheri Healey, who is excited about the changes. “While our name and visual design have changed, our commitment to helping individuals recover from addiction
and rediscover positive, productive lives and rebuild healthy positive relationships with themselves, family members and community has not.”
Key Recovery’s updated name brings into focus the expertise and effort that goes into preparing our clients for success after treatment. Individuals at Key Recovery & Life Skills Center gain essential work and life skills by participating in individualized treatment and our on-the-job training program at Seadrunar Recycling. Our unique combination of treatment and job skills enables our clients to establish marketable job skills, gain resume building experience and the confidence to compete in today’s changing workforce.
