If you're a renter, it's time to make sure you speak up for common sense eviction reform and tenant protections! Use the action link from Washington Low Income Housing Alliance to help keep HB 1453 and 1656 alive. HB 1453: Tenants should be accountable for paying the rent, but beginning eviction proceedings after 14 days (instead of the current shortest-in-the-nation 3 days) allows for another pay day or to cobble together funds from rental assistance programs or family & friends. HB 1656: Landlords will have to provide a legitimate business reason to make someone move when the lease ends or allow the tenancy to continue month to month.
P.S. You know who has a loud voice in Olympia? Landlords. You know what to do. https://housingalliance.salsalabs.org/20190204Evictionreformaction/index.html?eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=2e4b6397-8851-4c5e-ab27-18c20265a3ef
