Happy World Down Syndrome Day! Today, on March 21, we bring awareness and advocate for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down Syndrome. The 21st day of the 3rd months is meant to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.

We love creating sensory-rich opportunities for exploration, language and gross motor development, and play at Seattle Therapy Network. Today our fabric swings are all up in the big gym with Paw Patrol puppies hidden around for clients to find. Our speech therapists can use this activity to practice prepositions ("Marshall is on top of the black swing", "Zuma is under the blue swing") and our OTs can use this activity to support body awareness and movement gradation to successfully move between the layers of the swing.
