Today is National Pharmacist Day š
I started working at Section Pharmacy when I was 17 years old⦠and honestly?
I hated it.
I remember looking at Derrell Massey and saying,
āWho would want to do this the rest of their life?!?!ā
Plot twist: it was me.
After pharmacy school, God made a wayāand I came back home to where it all started. And now?
I love my community.
I love my people.
I love what I do.
What I donāt love is doing it at a loss or being met with slap-in-the-face reimbursement.
It takes money to run a pharmacy.
We have overheadāinsurance, utilities, supplies, computer systems, upkeep⦠and yes, the pharmacistsā brains that keep this community thriving and your quality of life on point, along with the incredible technicians who are the backbone of this pharmacyākeeping things moving, catching problems before they happen, caring for patients, and showing up every single day for this community.
When we make $0.72 on a prescription, we actually lose about $10 once overhead is accounted for.
Last year, our state took a big step toward fixing what was brokenāTHANK YOU to everyone who helped make that happen. Because of that momentum, weāre finally getting attention on the national level, and that matters.
This fight is about keeping small-town pharmacies open so we can keep supporting you.
Please contact your representativeāDale Strong for those of yāall in my district ā and ask for him to co-sponsor H.R. 6609 and H.R. 6610.
If you donāt know who your representative is, text me and Iāll find out for you: 256-244-7499.

I want to stay here.
I want to keep my community healthy.
I want to buy every ball sign and every donut your kid sells.
I want to watch this communityāand your familyāgrow.
Help us do that. š
āSigning off, your friendly neighborhood pharmacist, Monc š©š¼āāļø
