While we often post photos of the animals, it's moments like this that capture what The Mane Mission is all about. We're about creating opportunities for EVERYONE to rise to new challenges. Sometimes, it's giving one of our friends who uses a wheelchair the opportunity to shoot archery. Sometimes, it's challenging ourselves to think about ways to make it accessible. In this photo, Mike is in a wheelchair next to our friend so he can 'walk a mile in his shoes'. No matter what - each of us has a chance to try. To sometimes fail. To always succeed.

Whether we hit the target every time or not, each moment is an opportunity to learn and that's success in our book.

What a beautiful day and a treat to share The Mane Mission with two new partners. Met with the founder of and brainstormed ways to collaborate. She’s hoping to bring her student leaders out for a session of community service and then some planning time for the upcoming year.

Then shared what we do with two special needs teachers from a local high school so that we can have their students join us for one of our camps in May before school is out and again in the fall.

This is what we’re all about - relationships - and finding ways to support each other!

Xena had some dental surgery yesterday, and was pretty out of it when we took this photo, but she’s doing well. The tooth fairy may have even visited last night. 🧚

Yes… we have mailboxes for each of the animals. They love mail just as much as humans and somehow they only get love letters! The bills always make it to the humans.

Behind the scenes… Grant writing may not be glamorous, but grant funding, in addition to individual and corporate donations, allows us to do provide healing and hope to those in our community that need it most.

Being able to sit outside on my porch (in March with sandals on) though, makes it feel a little more glamorous. ☀️

Often times people think about taking care of one’s mental health as a luxury. What would happen if we focused on it as preventative medicine, like our semi-annual dental cleanings?!?

At The Mane Mission, we incorporate both nature and animals into mental health support and we love thinking about it as preventative medicine.

Although it looks like Xena is in a medieval torture device, she’s actually just getting her teeth cleaned. We’re keeping her healthy, so she can help keep you healthy.

We were looking through recent photos and this one made us laugh. Pony looks like she is posing as a llama!

After the giggles subsided, we couldn't help but think about how this captures perfectly one of our invitations to all who come to The Mane Mission - Come As You Are.

We recognize that holidays like Valentine's Day can hold a lot of layers for many of us. Whether today finds you surrounded by candy wrappers , wondering what all the fuss is about since it's just another Saturday, or feeling a little lonely, we want to remind you that every day - We see you. We love you. You hold a special place in our hearts. So much so that Boomer carries a heart for all to see.

Part of what we do at The Mane Mission is providing counseling and therapy in a way that feels natural and peaceful. For many that means breaking the confines of four walls and embracing the beauty of the world around us.

By facilitating sessions in nature, children and adults (especially those with ADHD) have more options for regulating their nervous systems, including co-regulation with animals and therapist, movement, and more embodied experiences.

The chairs you see here are magical! While they're technically a camping type chair any of us could purchase, they allow our therapist and clients to take in the beauty of their surroundings, while also incorporating movement. Clients can rock, sway, play with the foot straps, or simply let nature wash over them.

What a beautiful way to honor our mental health needs while embracing all the world has to offer us!

You may not recognize us in this photo booth strip - we clean up pretty nice, right?!?

Last weekend we were honored to attend a gala supporting our partners at Sarah’s Home.

We are so looking forward to our sixth year of walking alongside these incredible young women who are survivors of s*x trafficking.

Six years of partnering in healing… It’s amazing what animals, outdoor fun and connection can do! The smiles, the joy, the restoration of hope that we witness each time we’re together - it’s incredible.

This year, we’re excited to host these resilient women twice a month, creating opportunities for them to experience hope and step fully into the incredible humans they are.

Who knew it was National Inspire Your Heart with Art Day?!?

At The Mane Mission we're inspired by our friends who paint rocks during their day camp visits. The painted rocks everything from pictures to motivational quotes. They line the paths and surround trees. They add beauty to our every day and remind us the power of knowing that you belong. Each of our special friends touches our hearts and will always have a place here. 🥰
