Connection. Such a seemingly simple word. So many meanings. To connect means to touch, to join or link, to bridge, to relate, even to love.
🌹
How, then, can we understand what it means to connect? As human beings. With other humans. With animals. With the Earth. With a group. With the collective, cosmic, divine, etc.
🌹
Ancient and indigenous peoples developed sophisticated ways of doing this. Our modernized society, with all its so-called advantages, has largely forgotten how.
🌹
To me, connection means finding balance between authentic expression of self and openness to the other, facilitated by play, and held by Mother Earth and the generous capacity to love.
🌹
This may sound grandiose, but its been at the heart of a monthly workshop I’ve been facilitating since November. In a slow, conscious, and playful way, The Art and Soul of Connection seeks to investigate and reestablish our own unique ways of connecting to one another, using body and voice as our primary tools.
